Ahhh, Lanzarote: The Canary Island paradise where you can ride a camel into the sunset and then dine inside a candlelit cave. The rock formations of Los Hervideros will take your breath away, as will the views from the Mirador del Rio lookout point. Legend has it that locals would hide from pirates in the underground caverns of Cueva de los Verdes, which are now open to curious visitors. Above ground the Jardin de Cactus will teach you all about the spiny desert plants.

Located 400 metres high, on the Risco de Famara, the Mirador del Río is one of César Manrique's most representative architectural creations as it shows a series of artistic and architectural details and his eagerness to combine art and nature. It is located near the remains of an ancient military base that dates back to the end of the 19th Century. It is camouflaged on the rock in a way in which only a genius of Manrique's magnitude could conceive.
......and the views pretty good! An amazing architectural and engineering feat. The unassuming entrance (cave like) leads to a glorious open, light and airy space which doubles as a viewing platform and restaurant. The outside platform gives a spectacular panoramic view of La Graciosa - but beware it can be cold and of course windy! There is an upper viewing area accessed via a circular staircase cleverly ‘moulded’ into the structure from inside the restaurant sitting area. From this upper level you can still see the remains of the fortress that once stood on the site. Excellent coffee’s and snacks available and reasonably priced considering they have a captive audience! Worth paying the small entrance fee to see one of the best landmarks on the Island!

The breathtaking rockgardens with magic caves, tunnels and secret passages to the lake, nests at the foot of the famous house of Omar Sharif. Conceived bu Cesar Manrique and used for various films with Peter Ustinov, the new open air MUSEUM and art gallery integrates seemlessly into the rocks. The museum host various cultural activities like exhibitions of the properties history and the legend of Omar Sharif. Enjoy this fascinating rockgarden landscape that transports you into 1001 nghts.
This place is simply fabulous, it has lots of hidden seating areas and caves built into the mountainside. Two swimming pools And plenty of cafés. The César Manrique Design of this place is absolutely remarkable. There are twists and turns in tunnels each one leading to a different area. There is plenty to see And it will take you around an hour to go around. You can go right to the top into the living quarters. It really is beautiful and jaw dropping. We stayed here for about two and half hours, we just simply love this place. Be aware there are a lot of steps, be careful if you have problems with your feet on knees. This home once belonged to Omar Sharif, he owned it for one day, then he lost it gambling the next day. I wish I lived here. Around each corner is a surprise, either with seating areas designs of water features or just the beauty of the landscape.

Pardelas Park is a natural recreative park, a leisure alternative well bounded up with nature. Situated only one kilometer off the village of Orzola, at this place the visitor can enjoy the flora and animals of this farm. There is also a children's playgroud, pottery work shop and a confortable restaurant with a shady terrace where on can taste the typical plates of the island as well as tapas and wine from Lanzarote.
Lovely afternoon visit to this beautiful and friendly place. We were welcomed and given food to feed the animals. All the animals were so friendly (especially the cat who my grandson loved). There is a park opposite the restaurant so kids can play while adults enjoy a drink or something to eat. The owners were so genuine and friendly I can’t recommend this place enough.

Like many places in Lanzarote, Puerto del Carmen was originally a small fishing village, and the old harbour is still a delightful place to visit, boasting some excellent bars, restaurants and excursions running out of the harbour.
Walked here most mornings from our apartments, it’s a lovely area with lots of restaurants and cafes. Nice to sit in the sun soaking up the atmosphere. Did a 2 hour boat trip from the harbour, 2 of the happiest English blokes owned the boat, and made it a lovely trip, probably the best we’ve been on! Enjoyed watching all the divers doing their thing! And feeding the fish in the harbour.

From the Faro de Pechiguera lighthouse in the west to the Castillo de las Coloradas in the east is about 5 miles & takes you from quiet undeveloped areas, past busier bars & hotels, past Playa Flamingo & Playa Dorada, through the stylish Marina Rubicon and then upwards towards the old tower. It is extremely well maintained, clean and wide. There are benches at the best viewing points. It's great to listen to the bashing waves against the rocks and to look out towards Fuerteventura. We walked along all & then parts of the promenade many times - never tiring of the stunning seaviews. So relaxing! Popular in early morning with runners & joggers.

Since first opening almost 25 years ago the Marina has expanded and can now hold over 450 boats and is able to house 60 meter super yachts, we regally receive V.I.P visitors to the marina in some breathtaking yachts that constantly stop visitors in their paths to take photos. Puerto Calero Marina has an array of top quality Cafes, Bars and Restaurants that run along the waters edge that cater for all tastes and nationalities so don't forget to allow extra time after your trip to sample some of the local Tapas, or simply check out some of the menus so you can plan a return visit during your holiday. If you fancy flexing the credit card then there are also many designer shops to peruse here too.
Took boat from Puerto Del Carmen to here, lovely stroll, loads of great places for lunch/ drinks , and , bonus, a great shoe shop !!

It does not matter what's your religion. This old chapel is believed to have been built because people prayed the 'Dolores Virgin' to stop the lava flow, and She did, according to the legend. As a favour, they constructed this shrine.

A pleasant walk with breaktaking views - steep steps from Peurto Del Carmen and further on if coming in other direction. Would not advise this for prams or anyone with mobility problems. Breathtaking views, did it in approx 1 hour with our 7 year old. Take water and wear sensible walking gear.
