This monastery is in the middle of the AZ desert and is the most beautiful and serene place I've visited in many years. There are several buildings and chapels, each unique including interesting icons of this religion. The grounds are an amazing combination of palm trees, cactus, and many other plants as well as beautiful fountains and walkways. The self-guided tours give you plenty of time to stroll through this beautiful place. Note that women and men have clothing guidelines that are strictly followed. See their website before visiting.

Statue and plaque at the spot Tom Mix died. Someone has a box with a guest log in it and a stack of copies of the newspaper article when it was dedicated. Nice place to stop but be advised there are no restrooms or water.
