Though probably best known as the capital of West Germany from 1949 to 1990 (and of reunified Germany until 1999), Bonn actually has a history dating back to the 1st century BC. Roman soldiers were stationed here and the largest known Roman fort was built at Bonn. In medieval times, the town gained prominence when the Archbishop of Cologne transferred his seat to Bonn. The city's most famous son is Ludwig van Beethoven, born in 1770 at Bonngasse, where a museum now honors him.

With rain threatening and having just arrived in Bonn I negotiated with a taxi driver to take met to the church and wait to bring me back into the city. Had a stroke of luck when he was very excited to do this because he loves this church. Made a flat rate and didn't charge me the waiting time as he wanted to visit the church as well The church is beautiful inside with beautiful murals With the upper church meant for the nobility, I pictured them getting up there via the narrow staircase :) This church is really a must see doesn't matter which way you choose to get there

This old cementery is located very close from either main attractions of Bonn or railway station. It is great idea to take a walk there and rest a little from crowds.

A wonderfull place in Cologne. Great atmosphere on a sunny day. There are several cafés where you can sit outside with coffee and cake and enjoy the sun as well as the view.
