The remote and tranquil Rhiwddolion was formerly a slate quarrying community. Ty Capel was a school-cum-chapel in the days of the slate quarry. Ty Capel and two cottages nearby can be booked for short breaks with the Landmark Trust, a charity that restores historic buildings at risk and makes them available for holidays.

Small 14th century church standing on the banks of the River Conwy. Now redundant, it is in the care of the St Michael's Betws-y-Coed Trust.
This is a lovely old church, slightly away from the centre of Betws-y-Coed. There is a fine stone effigy of a knight, and a font that is older than the church building. A recording of choral music adds to the peaceful atmosphere. If you like historic buildings or are looking for a restful retreat for a few minutes, away from the busy streets of Betws-y-Coed, this is well worth a visit.

We stayed at the Bryn Afon right next to the Pont-y-Pair So we saw the bridge in the morning, the evening, with cloudy and clear skies. A beautiful old stone bridge. My favorite in that part of Wales. I always marvel at 600 year old structures that are still in use even after centuries of the stresses of flooding etc. Loved the sounds of the river cascading over the rocks. A short walk from the train station where many tour busses stop. Suprised that most tourists do not make the walk to catch a view of this historic bridge Shared one picture below...but took many more Time you should spend...If you are a photographer you can spend several hours here.

We are a sustainable, family run art gallery nestled in the heart of the Snowdonia National park. Husband and wife owners Jacha, a renowned artist and conservationist, and Gwyn who has been the station's caretaker for over 40 years are passionate about inspiring and educating visitors about global conservation issues. The Platform Galeri is a modern space exhibiting Jacha's wide range of environmental artwork. On display is a selection of paintings, photographs, installations, etchings and sculptures, many of which highlight the conservation issues very close to Jacha's heart. The artwork even spreads out onto the station platform, with Edith the Rhino and Dr.Sen the Orangutan, two recycling sculptures raising awareness of the plight of each animal as well as highlighting the amount of rubbish we humans produce.
we go regulary to deposit our bottle tops, we collect in a canvas bag and when its full we pop over to drop them off a lovely place to visit and everyone's friendly

This is not a day out type of place, more a 15 minutes walk and maybe a 30 minutes mooch around. But worth the visit, we really enjoyed it and there was no-one else around. Best to park in Capel Garmon and walk to the site. It is not large, but is very interesting, although there was not a great deal of information at the site. But to be honest, it is what it is, a burial chamber on the edge of a farmers field, so for history buffs it’s nice that you can actually get to it, and not view from a distance like a lot of things.
