Mount St. Scholastica offers so much....quiet, peacefulness, spirituality, a special place for a retreat. Arrangements can be made for a tour of the Benedictine Sisters smaller Chapel and the larger Chapel both having beautiful historical stained glass windows. The Sophia Center offers one-day and weekend educational workshops on many interesting topics. Also available are individualized personal retreats with excellent spiritual directors. I highly recommend Mount St. Scholastica.

St. Benedict Abbey

This huge church--built in 1957--serves both the abbey and the adjacent Benedictine College. From the back, one gets an impression of the church's enormous size. At the front is a huge mosaic. The monks invite visitors to join them in their daily prayer in the upper church. Below is a large chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe that also merits a visit.

Very cool spot in Atchinson KS. I love historical buildings and homes. Just a quick 30 min drive from Leavenworth. I was only able to see the outside since I was between appointments, and the museum is only open for tours Fri/Sat by appointment only. So, plan ahead and give yourself time to explore! I will definitely be back for a tour with my family!

Love the wood floors made by hand. Wished we could have seen the spiral staircase but, since someone lives on the other side, I guess this was not possible Bummer!!
