Home to both the midnight sun (with constant daylight from April to July) and the northern lights, North Norway is a rugged land of steep mountains, deep fjords and scenic coastline, making it a great place for outdoor adventures like dog sledding, snowmobiling and wildlife safaris. It's also the ancient home of the Sami people, 3,000 of whom live (along with 100,000 reindeer) at Kautokeino, Norway's largest municipality at over 3,700 square miles.

Jekta is the biggest shopping center in Tromsø. It surprised me because is really good and has a lot of excellent stores, including a huge supermarket. It has nice options to eat, and if you get tired it has big lockers for the backpacks, etc. (Next to the supermarket). My favourite store is Kid (a lot of things to the house that come from Norway - as wool blankets), and to take a break: Kaffebonna ( to me the best cappuccino in town). To go you can take the bus from the city center, it's super easy and really worth it.

A well deserved break can be taken at any of the four eateries while observing Hurtigruta pass by. Nerstranda is located close to Strandtorget in southern Tromso and is easily acsessible by foot and bus. The shopping centre also has underground parking with direct acsess to its stores.
