The shrines and temples of Kyoto offer a rare link between modern life in the city and its very ancient past. The Shimogamo Shrine dates to the 6th century and seems suspended in time, its serenity and spiritual power still palpable. Visit Fushimi Inari Shrine, then see the life-sized Thousand Armed Kannon statues of Sanjūsangen-dō. Enjoy traditional geisha performances, then savor a tranquil meal at a restaurant overlooking the Kamo River.

Overall I had a great experience: - Fantastic service with a very helpful owner who spoke about the knives, history and purpose of each knife. Also went and told me the benefits of different types of handles etc. - High quality- was very impressed with the quality of knives, good range to suit different budgets but also very unique pieces. - Good value- the prices were very reasonable. Compared to other shops (nearby in the market and a few blocks away), some could say it was comparable on price but the quality was the real difference here. I really liked the fact that it was a personal experience, didn’t feel pressured like some of the other shops, and less touristy. I highly recommend this shop to others.
