Sandton is an affluent area situated within the Johannesburg Municipality, Gauteng, South Africa. It is well known for being the richest square mile in Africa. The name comes from the combination of two of its suburbs, Sandown and Bryanston. In 1969 Sandton was promulgated as a municipality in its own right, but lost its status as an independent town after the re-organisation of South African local governments.

This is a great mall and its huge. The selection of shops is excellent, from designer to regular stores. A walkway to Mandella square when you are done to hang out.

Joburg's first and finest outdoor market, established 43 years ago, it is a magical place removed from the rush of everyday life, offering inspired crafts and wholesome food. Located 20 minutes from Sandton with free entrance. On offer are quality artisanal products that are locally produced from organic and natural materials and ingredients. Shopping options include a wide selection of arts and crafts, clothing, accessories and jewellery, health and wellness products and quality curios and collectables. Organic fresh produce, bakery and delicatessen products complete the selection. There are also several coffee shops and eateries where you can enjoy a healthy and wholesome meal or snack in a shady environment to the accompaniment of live music. A conscious living space where we lead by example and like-minded people come together to share and to learn. An experience that is more than the purchase of a product.
It’s situated in quite a remote place which is tucked away from main road. Small but totally cozy with good craft. We watched would cup rugby and ate at the place with the local.. totally soaked up the atmosphere. Bought many nice organic food and gifts. It’s worth a visit with good coffee and cakes.

Maybe I am a little biased being a South African, but for me it's hard to beat a bustling, energetic market in the heart of Johannesburg on a beautiful sunny day. The market offers a great vibe, good music, plenty of great food stalls and wonderful, well made African arts and crafts. Highly recommended
