There is rich and beautiful history within Lagos’ 14th century walls, from its fortress to picturesque churches like Medieval São João Hermitage and the 17th-century São Sebastião. But that’s all appetizer. People come here for a main-course coastal buffet featuring more than a half-dozen beautiful beaches. Quiet sandy coves are sandwiched between dramatic cliffs. The sandy 2.5-mile stretch of Meia Praia caters to every water sport imaginable. And when you’ve had your fill, you can digest your day with some of the best nightlife in the Algarve region.

Olaria Nova it's a family project founded in 1988, composed of five artists who complement and help each other. From the beginning our goal was to create original, nodern and innovative pieces, wich ended up being influenced by our everyday experiences and lifestyle. Lagos, Aljezur, a Costa Vicentina e a Serra de Espinhaço de Cão is where we find in harmony with nature, the sea and the city the necessary inspiration for the ideas, colors and forms flowing in our art.

LAC – Laboratory for Creative Activities is a non-profit cultural association, founded in 1995, based at the old prison of Lagos. Designed by Cottinelli Telmo, this building has its foundations laid on an old convent, making it an integral part of the local history. By reformulating the building's use, LAC instigates an interesting dichotomy of place highlighted by the stark contrast of restrictive prison walls vs. the freedom of creativity and independent expression. On becoming a creative space, the building has found a new lease of life with its cells being used as workshop areas for artists, whose work contributes to the revitalization of the building, giving it a new story.

This is the first review I have ever written on any website, mainly because I’m too lazy but I had to write something about this place...it’s so amazing! From the eclectic mix of gifts in the shop below to the fabulous rooftop bar where the cocktails are delicious and there are mocktails for the little ones, perfect for a pre-dinner drink. The restaurant itself is tiny but you never feel crowded or rushed. All the staff are extremely friendly, helpful and funny with nothing being too much trouble. You need to book in advance though as they were turning people away and had people waiting in the bar upstairs too. We booked about a week ahead. There is no children’s menu as such but there were plenty of lovely dishes that less fussy children would enjoy if you have the kind who are happy to try new things...but even then, the chicken skewers would probably be ok with those less adventurous little ones. What they will love is the salami chocolate...it’s out of this world! We ordered some for the kids and ended up ordering another piece for ourselves! And at only €1 per slice it’s a good value for money dessert. The food, though a fairly limited menu which is understandable given the size of the restaurant, is out of this world! We opted for some sharing platters to begin with and the goats cheese and jam which was amazing! We then chose from the small plates menu, 6 dishes and some fries and roast potatoes which was plenty enough for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids with the starters too. The flavours, colours and presentation of all the plates was of superb quality, the wine was delicious and as mentioned above, the salami chocolate was a culinary delight! It’s probably on the pricier side but well worth the price. I’m so glad we booked here for our first night in Lagos...the only problem now is how do we follow it?!?
