While there are lots of foodie reasons to spend time in the neighborhoods north of downtown La Candelaria, this area is the most engaging in Bogota and worth a day just wandering. It helps that there are lots of sites and museums to visit as well.

In case you have any doubt, this is the best place in Bogota to purchase artisan goods. There are other markets in Bogota - maybe two or three - not a lot. But this one has the best selection and the best prices. It is also conveniently located near the Botero Museum, and since you will be there anyway, you might as well stop by. I did not find it easy to negotiate better prices. I'm not sure it's possible to negotiate or if maybe I'm just not that good at it.
