The Hull People's Memorial Museum

The Hull People's Memorial Museum is a small, volunteer operated, museum of Kingston upon Hull and its citizens during the World Wars of the 20th century. Admission is free and we are accessible to all. We are subject to the restrictions currently in place due to the covid-19 pandemic which means that our 'please touch & handle' policy has had to be suspended and, unfortunately, it is 'strictly hands off' until we are told otherwise by H.M. Govt. The museum is currently closed due to the pandemic restrictions, but the gift shop is now open as usual. Our apologies for any disappointment this may cause.

I love this place. It’s a really funky shop design, with great service, pricing and most of all, products. There really is something for everyone of every age, whether it’s art, books, gifts or cards, that are connected to Hull or not. I always make a point of visiting whenever I’m in Hull. It’s part of an artistic, vibrant community in Humber Street Fruit Market where there are lots of other great eateries, galleries and shops such as Studio 11, Humber St Gallery, Thieving Harry’s and Butler Whites. It’s just a shame that Fruit, the original venue that helped kick start the areas renaissance has had to close. Humber Street is unmissable, but poorer without it. Great to see that Form, Sudio 11, Harry’s and the other early adopters are still going strong. Definitely the hub of Hull city centre’s indie community, though a short walk to Trinity Market and the adjacent arcade will connect you to more gems.

Paragon Arcade

A Victorian shopping arcade in Hull City Centre. Paragon Arcade was originally built in 1896, designed by architect Sir Alfred Gelder. Local landlord Allenby Commercial purchased the Arcade in late 2017 and have been delicately refurbishing it back to it's former glory. It’s now become Hull’s go-to-place for quality independent shopping & events.
