PARCE (“Friend” in Colombian slang) is a workplace for artists and a place where they can exhibit and, if desired, sell their work. The primary focus is on Latin-American art, mainly from Colombia. In addition to the art studio, PARCE also has a small shop in jewelry, bags and handicrafts. The shop aims to introduce the Ghent public to Latin-American culture, mainly to the Colombian culture.

Bookz&Booze is a unique concept store where you can buy a book with a matching botttle! What connects the both is a story you will hear about in the shop! Choosing between a book or a bottle? Just buy an original pairing in an exclusive gift wrapping and get the story for free. Of course you can only buy the bottle or the book. Or another original gadget or piece of art.
We were looking for a place to eat our gorgeous Belgian patisserie breakfast and to while away some time before a difficult visit. My eyes alighted on the store and then on the extremely charming owner! We popped in and chatted about UK music, about which Ief, the owner, was remarkably knowlegable. Better than many UK citizens and with English to match! Ief kindly offered us a coffee, which was hot and of a good, strong flavour, so we all shared drinks and our pastries in the warm sun outside, chatting away amicably about the world, politics and more! Ief and I tried French with the arrival of a French guy with many stories, as Sabine, journalist clearly of some experience, sat listening and smiling beningly. What an incredible and unusual concept and the bottle of whisky I was shown was like a piece of Deco art! More coffee and water appeared as Ief listened (how rare!), without trying to sell us anything and joined in, with a wry comment, in his excellent English! If only we could have stayed longer to explore but we were needed elsewhere. As Arnie famously said, "I'll be back"! This time to delve into the books , the LPs and the booze!! You are the 'Master of Style', Ief and deserve to do well. A serene moment in a fab, fun and friendly city. Have that coffee and an illustrated copy of Dante Alighieri's "Inferno" waiting for me on my return! My nephew was equally impressed. A real find and magical, as I alluded to in the review title! Dankje wel! Maggie and James, 14.09.20
