From a replica of a real French chateau to a working loom one could hold in the palm of one's hand, the Museum of Miniature Houses features a vast collection of exquisite miniature houses, vignettes and artisan pieces. "I had no idea anything like this existed!" is a phrase often heard from newcomers, who marvel at the intricacy involved in creating objects on such a small scale. Children and teens love doing the treasure hunts and the little ones get to play with a real dollhouse. In addition to a permanent collection, the Museum has rotating exhibits that change frequently. If you are a miniaturist yourself you can visit our well-stocked shop (no admission fee necessary for shoppers.) Touring the Museum of Miniature Houses is a truly unique experience, one which the whole family can enjoy.

The outside of the building is painted with a colorful mural: "Design District." The owners were so friendly. They gave us the history of Carmel, told us about all the fun events scheduled in town, and were so down-to-earth. The store is 2 floors. The top floor has coffee & tea (free) with some snack & soda machines so you can browse the store while sipping & snacking. Lots of different styles of antiques, too.

One of the largest farmers markets I’ve been to! Lots of farmers and vendors, all with super fresh items. Ones not to miss include: several Amish families with great tomatoes, onions & new potatoes; two local honey families with lots of selections; reasonably priced Wagu beef; tons of homemake breads, jams & even vinegars! If you want to shop local and fresh, this is the farmers market for you! You can shop here on a Saturday morning, spend $60 and have enough for meals for a family of four for pretty much the full week! Like music each week combined with plenty of food to eat as you walk around (the traditional egg rolls are super yummy)make this a fun place to get what’s in season!
