We first discovered this valley on a hike from Muottas Muragl on the “gastronomic trail” and fell in love with this picturesque valley with views of glacier covered peaks, cattle, llamas, goats and sheep and the sounds of cowbells and mountain streams. The first time we walked on the marked Trails on either side of the valley. The second time we decided just to walk along the road to be in the floor of the valley which by the way is quite a bit shorter than the trails up on the side of the mountains. The trail to the Val Fex runs right by our hotel in the entire trail was absolutely beautiful.

Walking along the ridge line from Klingenstock to Fronalpstock is one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring walks I have completed; the scenery here dwarfs that of the Lake District, and most places you're able to walk in the UK. Riding the fernicular at 110% is also an incredible experience - what a superb feat of engineering. From there, we took the chairlift to Klingenstock and then began our walk along the ridge line. You can walk the other way but this way is arguably the more challenging and more rewarding - the view before us was much better than that behind us. It's a truly breathtaking and wonderful view but it does come with a hefty price tag - the fernicular and access to the chair lifts aren't cheap. Take your own lunch to save some pennies!

Great free view of Lucerne, we got the tip from the tourist centre. Catch the tram to Konservatorium, they know the number etc at the tourist centre. I don't want to quote a number and it be wrong. It was 10 mins up the hill anyway. The view is up the top of a climb of stairs we're a music school is located. The view is over the city and lake, the gardens are English oriented, well maintained and the soft music of the school makes for a fantasy setting to view lucerne. We then walked around the park where there we public and free WC. Once a lot of photos were taken we walked down the small paths back to the city and enjoyed the streets of Lucerne. My travel partner is a photographer and loved this

The views from Hohsaas and Kreuzboden were some of the best during our time in Saas-Fee! Highlights: While my wife and I enjoyed the beautiful mountain scenery, the children enjoyed the gondola most of all! Once at Hohsaas, the boys enjoyed a "high-altitude" snowball fight, as even in the summer, there was still snow! Our biggest surprise, was finding an alpine bee! It gently landed on my wife's hand and everyone had a good look. Our favorite spot was Kreuzboden (on the way up / down to Hohsaas). Here there was a big playground for the children, and even a peddle powered go-kart. The boys were in heaven! In my opinion, Kreuzboden had some of the best views in the entire valley! Tips: In Kreuzboden, venture out beyond the gondola station / restaurant for the truly awe inspiring views. The small alpine lake was just past the animal farm near the playground. Despite our initial fears, our three and one year old had no problem with the altitude at Hohsaas!
