Asturias (/æˈstʊəriəs, ə-/; Spanish: [asˈtuɾjas]; Asturian: Asturies [asˈtuɾjes]; Galician: Asturias), officially the Principality of Asturias (Spanish: Principado de Asturias; Asturian: Principáu d'Asturies), is an autonomous community in north-west Spain. It is coextensive with the province of Asturias, and contains some of the territory that was part of the larger Kingdom of Asturias in the Middle Ages. Divided into eight comarcas (counties), the autonomous community of Asturias is bordered by Cantabria to the east, by Castile and León to the south, by Galicia to the west, and by the Bay of Biscay to the north.

Even if You are not a fan of cider, like me, you should come here not so much to drink, but to see how the cider is poured here. The best place in Oviedo is the street Gascony, named in honor of the immigrants from the homeland of D'Artagnan. This is real art. The hand with the bottle goes up, the other with the glass goes down. The waiter's absent gaze passes through you as if you are made of glass. With a slight movement of the brush, the cider from a height of one and a half meters pours exactly into the glass, and the waiter continues to look in the other direction. The rest of the cider pours onto the floor. What for? This is a Celtic tradition, to which the asturians and their kindred Galicians belong. Mother earth takes back what came out of it. Pouring cider from a height has a rational explanation. Cider takes on oxygen in the process of falling and gets a different taste. I didn't notice, but let's believe the people of Oviedo.
