Somnath is the first JYOTIRLINGA of the Twelve. Darshan of the Lord is very simple and free for all without any Special or VIP charges. The Laser show in the night is a must see as the Mythology and History of the temple are explained in a very simple vocabulary.

The moment you enter the complex, you feel very relaxed with the serene atmosphere. Built arone 500 years back, the entire structure is well carved out and is a treat to watch.

There are several temples on the mountains of Girnar (climb starts from Junagadh) We were there a day after Shivaratri so were fortunate to escape the crowd of a million people which had gathered at the base of the mountain for the festival. We started the climb of 9999 steps leading to the Datta temple atop the mountain at around 3 pm. There is also the Ambaji temple which is at approx 8000 steps. One must remember to pick a walking stick (usually of bamboo) available at shops at the base on rent. The climb is stiff but there are shops on the way which sell water and lemon juice and a few snacks for those who get exhausted. We carried Electrol packets with us which we had intermittently to get our energy back. We also carried some chocolates and energy bars; can't eat too much as it makes the climb difficult. Devotees climb and descend the mountain almost 24 ×7 ,and there is nothing to fear. Of course carry a small tor torch during night time as it is necessary both for ascent and discent. The climb is tough but we came across men and women in their 70s also completing the journey safely. A reasonably comfortable speed would complete the darshan and back to base in 8 to 10 hours.

It was a very nice temple, loads of positive vibes. However be aware of the scammers... One guy offered us the pooja ka thali and said pay later when u come back. We kept asking him what is the price, but he kept saying go fast pay later.. or else the temple will get closed. On returning he said.. there was a silver coin in it hence the price is 1300 rs. You don't have an option to quarrel as the price was not fixed. Rest everything is good.

It is very nice temple situated near porbandar. 42 kilometer from porbandar on NH 51 highway. Easily located on highway. There are state transport and private running buses from porbandar to go here. Temple is very famous in gujarat and there is good amouyof crowd visit here on vacation. I visited on vacation but able to complete darshan in around 30 minute. From temple near by is hill where on top of hill another temple is located, climbing on hill takes just 20 minutes, but after you reach on top it's very beautiful view to see sea from top of hill, good for photo session. I would definitely recommend this place to visit.
