St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral was founded in 1905 and is the first and original Greek Orthodox Christian parish of the Tampa-St. Petersburg area. The present Cathedral was completed during WWII, in 1943. Much of the interior marble, including the iconostasis (icon screen), is from the Greek pavilion of the 1939 World's Fair in New York City. The Cathedral contains actual relics of St. Nicholas of Myra and is a point of pilgrimage for those who seek the intercessions of this most beloved of Christian saints. The Cathedral tower is the tallest architectural structure in Tarpon Springs and serves as the heart of the downtown and city. In the plaza to the north of the Cathedral is the famous "Cross Diver" statue which captures the pinnacle of the annual Epiphany Day (January 6) celebration for which the St. Nicholas Cathedral parish is known the world over. At the base of the statue are the names of young men - Orthodox Christian and non-Orthodox Christian - who made the supreme sacrifice during World War II.
This Neo-Byzantine architectural style Greek Orthodox cathedral is TripAdvisor reviewer #1 rated Tarpon Springs attraction, for good reason. It is the center of Tarpon Springs Greek culture. St. Nicholas hosts an annual Epiphany celebration each January 6, when Greek Orthodox boys aged 16–18 dive into Spring Bayou to retrieve a white wooden cross, said to bring good luck to the finder. It is the Western Hemisphere’s largest such event. A statue of an epiphany diver is in front of the church. The domed main building was completed in 1943 modeled in part on Hagia Sophia (an astounding architectural marvel originally constructed 1,500 years ago as a Christian basilica) in Istanbul, which features Byzantine and Gothic Revival architectural styles. The 23 stained glass windows adorning the dome like a crown depict episodes in the life of Jesus and the saints. The dome’s three enormous chandeliers were imported from what was Czechoslovakia. The incomparable 60-ton altar is made of Pentelic marble imported from Greece, and was part of a Greek exhibit in the 1939 New York World’s Fair. Mount Pentelicus or Pentelikon (Greek: Πεντέλη, Πεντελικόν or Πεντελικό Όρος) is a mountain situated between Athens and Marathon. The cathedral was closed when I visited in early June. Viewing Internet photos of the interior caused me to plan another tour of Tarpon Springs next year. There are, however, many interesting features surrounding the structures. A member of the congregation imparted much information about the history of this magnificent cathedral.

Christmas Eve Candlelight 6:30 & Christmas Day 10am Sunday Traditional Worship - Saturday Night Praise and Worship . . . please see our website FaithLutheranPG.com for a calendar of our events and other details! Connect with us on Facebook/FaithLutheranPG for our online services.
It was our first visit to Faith Lutheran Church yesterday. The Pastor's wife came and introduced herself, along with many members and even visitors. We felt so welcomed and Pastor delivered a very Passionate sermon. His prayers my wife and I found moving and so appropriate for the turbulence we are witnessing with our elected politicians. We will be returning and also getting involved. Thank everyone for making us feel wanted.

I truly believe that this parish is one of the great things about living in Boynton Beach. In fact, it's impossible to bot believe if you attend St. Thomas More. It is a high-energy church with an amazing array of programs that support the mission of the church, from assisting the less fortunate, to providing religious education to the young to engaging an enormous number of parishioners in so many aspects of the ministry. It all starts with the parish leadership. The pastor somehow manages to preserve the values and traditions of the Roman Catholic religion while keeping pace with the challenges and opportunities of the- age we live in. He and Father Vargas are extraordinary priests who are totally committed to making the parish a wonderful organization. Everything they do is above and beyond what is expected. And the congregation takes the same approach. An amazing nuymber of parishioners contribute their time, energy and talents to the ministry. And, the church's use of technology is a model for today's church. Two masses are live streamed on the internet every Sunday and then archived for access by parishioners and other worshipers around the world so they watch the mass live or at a latter time. This is a blessing for those who cannot attend in person because of illness. Likewise the 24-hour internet radio stations in English and Spanish extend the spirit of the parish to untold thousands. I am deeply grateful for St. Thomas More and the incredible leadership. .

Sunday worship 8:30 & 10am A place of grace and love located in beautiful Daytona Beach Shores, FL. Come join us as we celebrate Jesus...drive in style.
They had a drive-thru “petting zoo” (minus the petting due to social distancing) which was a huge hit with our 17-month-old grandson. With local playgrounds being off limits right now this was the sweetest, socially distant experience. Thank you! Thank you! You made our day! Check their website for dates and times, but when we attended the event it was Fridays and Saturdays in May from 11am to 6pm for a $10 donation. Donations go to the care of the animals.

Built by tourists, for tourists, this Roman Catholic Church was built in the 1980's to accommodate the 30+ million visitors to the Central Florida attractions yearly. The Basilica is not a regular parish church, but a tourist ministry that sits on 17 acres and offers a Rosary Garden, multiple Chapels, Museum, Pilgrimage Center, Gift Shop, bronze statues, oil paintings and art from the 16th century as well as amazing stained glass including a Rose window, Universe window, Rosary windows and The Magnificat windows.
The first sight I see when I visit is an impressive statue of St. Michael, followed by a massive bridge, leading to the church. The water on both sides is soothing, and ducks are frequent visitors. I am also always on the lookout for the resident turtles. Before entering the church, I often wander through the Rosary Garden or pray in the outdoor chapel. Within the Basilica, everyone who works there has always been friendly and helpful, and they have always gone above and beyond when staging an event. I love attending Mass in the huge and stunningly beautiful church which now boasts a grand pipe organ. I never get tired of the stained glass windows and the atmosphere. Backing up, Mass is sometimes held in a sweet, little chapel at the front of the church, just off the foyer. In the same said chapel, there is a special area where you can spend time with our Blessed Mother. If you just want to quietly worship and adore Jesus Christ without any distractions, you can spend all day or just minutes with his presence in the Adoration Chapel, located at the back of the church. Other pluses for me are a priest on duty all day for confession and blessings, and daily Mass at 12:05pm. If you are into shopping, there is a large gift shop next to the church. I can't stay away. I frequently buy books, but they have rosaries, chapel veils, statues, fonts, CDs, jewelry, games, wall crucifixes and much, much more. Did I mention the children's section in the shop?

Brought from Spain and reassembled by William Randolph Hearst in 1925, this is a popular wedding spot.
Absolutely Breathtaking. Imagine a monastery built in the 12th century, taken apart and reassembled in the United States stone by stone. You can literally touch ancient history with your hands and it's right here in our backyard. A place of of meditation which brings your heart to a moment of peace, calmness and tranquility.
