I visited here in my family trip. The location of the hotel was a bit far from the nearest station, so I recommend to use a car or free shuttle. The room has two sub rooms and was big enough for four people (2 adults and 2 kids). The view from the room was good and nostalgic. The room has a shower, but the hot springs were so big and comfortable enough for you to get relaxed. We could play with several traditional Japanese toys outside. All the kids definitely love it. Free ramen was also served at 10pm ( I was not sure taste of it because I was in the bed...) Only one drawback was a location of the meals. We could not have them in the room but needed to go to restaurant. I understand that the upscale hotel cannot serve meals by each room, but the room was too cozy for me to get out!

Nestled in a lush forest beside black, volcanic cliffs this isolated luxury inn radiates serenity. We were led over a little bridge to the outskirts of the sprawling woodland - far away from tetchy twilighters. The individual private hot spring spas scattered throughout the leafy grounds were a welcome relief as we are prude nude bathers. After a tranquilizing, hot soak we sat down for a kaiseki (multi-course) dinner with the nostalgic 77-year old creator of Hanafubuki, Shingo Ichikawa, a wholehearted environmentalist. His son and Hanafabuki’s head chef, Daigo Ichikawa prepared a plethora of impeccable culinary delights. Daigo’s haute cuisine is a work of art highlighting seasonal and local specialties, with many ingredients foraged from the forest floor. From the starter of silky Mineoka tofu, a dish from the Edo period of 1603 to the cherry leaf flavored sea bream sashimi and pheasant and leek skewers our tastebuds were singing like the Japanese robins perched outside the window. As the sun rose the following day, we took a slow amble down a mossy pathway beside a brook, which opened up to the spectacular Jogasaki coastline. Waves crashed onto the dark, jagged cliffs and the beauty of nature was truly laid bare. Following the invigorating hike, my companion and I submerged into our last hot spring bath. As the forest owls hooted that the day was over, wistfully we knew it was time to get fully-clothed and back on life’s fast train.

i guess i was spoiled by other ryokans further into Izu. the hotel presents itself as modern minimalist. the food was very good but not great, rooms were clean and comfortable. there are much better options close by for about the same price 54000 yen.

Loved it. This is a great hotel. It is ryokan style and will allow you to relax and enjoy yourself. The building feels brand new. It is beautiful and has a classic Japanese feel to it, just new. Everything is beautiful and clean. The service is awesome, attentive from beginning to end. The room is beautiful, Japanese tatami style. We ate our dinner and breakfast in the room. Both meals were amazing. The public bath is really great and they have some private ones to use if you wish. This hotel is really amazing for people who just want to relax. I highly recommend this hotel. Not many kids around, but some. We had our six-year-old and she loved it. Ito is a very nice stop in Izu. Beautiful little town.

Relax from the bottom of your heart with your own open-air bath. "Ito Ryokuyu" is the Private Resort Japanese Inn(ryokan). All the 7 rooms are classical Japanese style with your own open-air bath filed with fresh hot spring, Onsen, at each room, and will be renewal in February, 2016. You DO NOT have to upset or feel uncomfortable with being naked to enjoy Japanese culture Onsen in public bath. In addition, you can experience traditional Japanese dinner course with traditional "Japanese ryokan style" in your room. We are looking forward to welcoming you.
The outdoor rotenburo is perfect for couples or even families and individuals. Meals are served with Japanese hospitality and cuisine is amazingly filled with top quality fresh produce and seasonal ingredients. Clean and stocked full of amenities

I stayed there with my family at the end of 2017. This hotel is located at the center of Ito onsen ("onsen" means "hot spring"). Ito is a city adjacent to famous Atami onsen. Compared with Atami, Ito keeps quite and traditional Japanese onsen city style. If you are looking for a quiet onsen city, Ito is the place for you. (If you prefer lively tourist destination, Ito is not adequate). Among many Onsen hotel, I would say Dankoen represents a average traditional Japanese style hotel. It is not small, but not huge. It provides only Japanese style room, so you can try Japanese style bedding. But if you prefer western style bed, you need to avoid this hotel. The hotel has 2 styles of bath, inside and outside. This is the most common Japanese style. Hospitality is on average. It is slightly different from old good days. For example, dinner is served in a huge dinning room. And all meals were already set on the table. (Traditional Japanese style was to bring and serve dinner in your room). But I can say this hotel makes good effort to provide good hospitality thinking of critical labor shortage and severe price competition at hospitality industry. Quality and amount of food is good. At morning, the hotel serves buffet with various foods, and you can enjoy both western style and Japanese style foods. This hotel is located at convenient place, you can walk to both city area and sea side area. Also Tokaikan is within walking distance. Takaikan is an old and traditional Japanese style onsen hotel constructed only with wood. Currently, it is not used as a hotel, it is a museum where you can walk inside. Cost is only 200 JPN. (Tokaikan is not open all days, you need to check the calendar). If you will visit Ito for the first time, Dankoen is not a bad choice. Because it represents average level at all aspects.

Welcome to Daitokan TripAdvisor Page!! Our Price includes breakfast, "B&B" Style buy it is RYOKAN. Daitokan has 3 Selling Points. ①Big Outdoor Bath:You can feel expansive at our Big Outdoor Bath ②Simple Western Breakfast:Toast, Eggs, Baacon, Many Fresh Vegetables,Coffee ③Hospitality:Good Service, Once you checked in, it is free to go out or stay at Ryokan.
This is an older hotel that appears to be nicely maintained. We had a HUGE room with comfortable futon sleeping arrangements. The front desk (and breakfast) staff were friendly and helpful. A nice breakfast buffet is laid out in the lobby. But the *real* draw are the onsens. One of the communal baths (they switch between men's/lady's at 10PM daily) has a very large outdoor bath attached. And of the three private baths (no additional charge), the one at the end of the volcanic air raid shelter tunnel is a fun chance to bathe in giant "cannibal pots."
