Stayed here two nights while enjoying the Hakone region. Staff was helpful although limited in ability to converse in English. The Onsen provided great relaxation after a day of travel and after a day of sightseeing. The meals were excellent and bountiful. Although I did not always know precisely what I was being served I always enjoyed it and also enjoyed the experience of preparing it myself at my table. Although the Ryokan was somewhat remote the transportation system in Hakone, busses and trains is excellent

The Mount View Hakone is a ryokan that may not be very new and has slightly come of age, but manges to convince on other fields of expertise. We loved the privately bookable onsen and were particularly fond of the dinner experience that was lavish, fresh and memorable - a true highlight of every night. It was a relaxing stop: long walks, good food, no TV or other entertainment, making it the perfect getaway spot close to busy Tokyo.

We stayed at this hotel for my boss's b-day celebration, and this hotel met all my expectations. From the sanitation, cleanliness of the room, the tasty food they serve, the accommodating staff members, the huge onsen (public bath) with mist sauna, not to mention their private onsen, has all the amenities you will need, and most of all, the impeccable design of the hotel itself has impressed me a lot! This is definitely the hotel I will come back to and I will never get tired of staying in, especially in the summertime & winter season.

Art & Music Spa Resort MANATEI HAKONE opened in 2012 as the first ryokan of Club Manatee Group. Our group ryokan has different kinds of unique concepts: RAKUZAN YASUDA ( located in Izunokuni ) reopened after remodeling in 2018 which features Kimono and art, TOKIWAYA ( located in Numazu ) reopened as well in 2018 where you can feel the old days of Japanese fishing village with music & art, and MANATEI NASU ( located in Nasu ) opened in 2018 and the design concept is Taisho Roman ( the cultural stylings of Taisho Period of Japanese history (1912-1926) )
About 10 minutes walk from Kowakidani station, but it is quite steep. I recommend asking the hotel for pickup (by Mercedez!). Some rooms have their own private spring hot tub and it is awesome. No large public bath, but there are three small chartered baths, so you can enjoy it whenever you want even if you stayed in a room without a spring bath. Dinner and breakfast have plenty of vegetables and you can enjoy Bagna cauda and various vegetable sticks with white dip sources. Kaiseki (course meal with many small dishes) is very healthy. The room is clean and cozy, but a bit aged (but it does not blot on the good points at all). Nothing is around here and it is very quiet; it means that you have to buy snacks beforehand. I love this hotel!

The Hakone Suishoen is a hot spring inn, which combines traditions and modernity, housing the former Mitsui Family's resort villa—a tangible cultural property with over 94 years of history—in the garden. All guestrooms are built as suite rooms, equipped with open-air hot spring bath, the renovated Tangible Cultural Property. They can choose either Kaiseki or Teppanyaki for dinner.
We decided to tack on a stay in Hakone on our way to Izu (for 2 nights), and since it was a last minute booking we were unable to secure a room at more renowned properties such as Hakone Ginyu, Gora Kadan or Gora Hanaougi. Our expectation was that Suishoen would be a good stay but the overall experience would be a notch below some of the best ryokans we've tried. We were definitely proven wrong! From the service, architecture, rooms and (especially) the food, everything was top notch and was right up there with our two Izu choices (Asaba and Arcana.) We generally try to get the best room possible, and in Suishoen's case, it was the Luxury Suite "Negau," which is a spacious 123m² in size and had all of the trimmings that one would expect from a top-category room. Negau's interior could best be described as "Wa-modern" (Japanese modern) - very contemporary, but not in a way that is cold. Rather, it gives a slight country vibe while still being up-to-date, aesthetically. While the use of dark wood isn't to our personal liking (we like it more bright and airy), Negau was comfortable and tastefully furnished, and was in tip-top shape. It had a spacious living room, a dining table, a Japanese "tea room" (a tatami sitting area), a separate bedroom and, of course, a very nice rotenburo (Open-air onsen hot springs bath.) While the grounds and garden are not as expansive or awe-inspiring as some other ryokans we've stayed at, the main restaurant building is impressive and historic. Built during the Taisho Era (early 20th Century), it was formerly the Summer residence of the Mitsui family, and has been carefully restored to its original grandeur. It really gives Suishoen a great sense of place, and gives an indication of the incredible meals that we were to enjoy that evening. The food was stupendous - it's really up there with the very best. Everything was unique, creative and varied. Even something as simple as a grilled chicken (which was a substitute for the amazing beef, which Mrs. KI-NRT cannot eat) was cooked and flavored to perfection. Dessert was also a delight - it consisted of a soup made of chilled sweet white bean paste which was accompanied by Kiwi Ice Cream, Strawberries from Amaou, Kiyomi Mikan (a type of Japanese citrus fruit) and Warabi Mochi, a Jelly-like confection made from bracken starch and covered or dipped in kinako (sweet toasted soybean flour.) It was a very pretty serving, and each item contained in the dish meshed beautifully with one another. We love Japanese breakfasts, even though it's generally more of an afterthought at ryokans relative to the dinners that are offered. In this aspect Suishoen definitely did not mail it in. It was far more creative and varied than the standard "Wachoshoku" that contains a grilled fish, miso soup, pickled vegetables, some tofu and white rice. The grilled vegetables, the savory flan, the various condiments and even the fish itself was as impressive as what was offered at dinner. Kudos to the chef and kitchen staff for providing a tasty culinary experience, end-to-end. The staff were a delight - they were warm, prompt in fulfilling requests and overall very eager to please. You can tell that Suishoen is gunning for top-dog status and they won't rest on their laurels until they get there. In spite of the quality of competition in Hakone, we will definitely be making plans to return at some point in the near future.

Location is great and you can book rooms which come with private toilet. Bath is at the free onsen. For the Japanese-style rooms, we have to lay the futons ourselves. I would suggest getting the breakfast and dinner bundle with the room as there are no dinner options nearby.

We stayed at Hakone Airu in early November 2019 after a week in Tokyo. Everything, from check-in to check-out was amazing. We were a few hours early for check-in and were able to drop our bags at the desk so we could explore the area (Tamadareno falls are worth the walk). After our walk we checked in and enjoyed a welcome drink before relaxing in our room and our very first onsen. In the evening we enjoyed the kaiseki dinner with shabu shabu course in a private dining room. We ate lots of dishes that we never had before and loved the beef shabu shabu. After that we spent some time at the bar. It's not only beautiful but fun as well. We joked around with the bartender and enjoyed some of his great whisky recommendation. All in all this was one of the highlights of our month in Japan. The location was beautiful, the rooms were luxurious and spacious after Tokyo. A special thanks to the staff for being very accomodating with adjusting the meal for my pregnant wife who could not eat raw fish, and thanks for the bartender that evening for making a great day just a bit more special. We enjoyed it so much that we're already planning to go back in 2021!

Private resort "然" offering the Nature of Hakone. It is a few high-quality villas place where the Hakone Sengokuhara hot spring in the place of only one hour 30 minutes can see world heritage "Mount Fuji" from Tokyo. I prepare a half outdoor bath of the Sengokuhara hot spring gravity-feed irrigation for all guest rooms. In addition, the dinner can enjoy the original breast stone which was particular about highest grade rank Fujiyama Japanese beef and seasonal foods.
Due to a series of misadventures we were late arriving to the ryokan but the staff were wonderful in organising a pick up for us and took great care to ensure that we made dinner on time. Dinner was served with explanations of each dish, everything looked beautiful and tasted even better! The onsen in our room was delightful and we were shown how to adjust the temperature it was an incredible experience waking up in the morning to the view of Mt Fuji and being able to soak in the warm onsen, gazing at the view was magical. Breakfast was also a good experience there was one fish dish which had an overpowering taste but everything else was great and you definitely do not leave hungry! Highly recommended and would not hesitate to book again.

It was a wonderful 1 night trip tom Tokyo. Went by car, about 2 hours easy, relaxing drive. The hotel has car park, safety box at reception area, yukata (for room and bath use). Amenities by Pola cosmetics brand, very nice. Room slipper and hotel ground slipper. An own sock might be nice if you don't like the sticky feel. There is bath tub in room also although the onsen is far more wonderful experience. Locker within, hair dryer, water for drink. Basket is available in room for bathing purpose, where change and other stuff can be put in. The whole basket can be locked inside provided locker in bathing area. A code to unlock entrance door will be provided upon check in. Dinner (1 hour) and breakfast (50 minutes) were fabulous and plenty of choices. There is time limit and I suppose to discourage chatting during meal time. A can of drink is presented after finishing dinner. A bento palate is provided to some takeout if needed. There is a gift shop area at lobby too. (Will post photos later.)
