A colonial touch blended with the robust Tamil culture, Pondicherry is just a two-hour picturesque drive away from Chennai. Visit here for the cobblestone cycling-friendly streets, the rich history of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, and some of the best cafes in which to hang out. A place where lethargy is a virtue, enjoy the sun rise at the widely used beachfront. The same place converts into a local hangout at night when traffic is stopped and post-dinner walkers turn out for ice cream.

Conceived as Pondicherry by the French and affectionately known as 'Pondy', the city has its conspicuous French connection. Away from the hustle bustle of the metro's, this quiet little town offers the peculiar mustard-yellow colonial heritage buildings, virgin beaches, a medley of cuisines, the quaint spiritual wave and the alluring art. Here, soaked in the whiff of the Bay of Bengal and stationed in the ripples of its own beautiful man-made lake, Ocean Spray grasps the enchantment and the intimacy in its own breath. Bonjour Bonheur Ocean Spray Resort showcases the nature at its best. The Majestic grandeur architecture overlooks the overwhelming swimming pool with the sound of the gushing cascades and the smoldering view of the sky. Interiors reflect the warmth of its aristocratic ambiance. Villas with private swimming pools provide an exclusive composition. One of its kind night club quenches the thirst of the night life birds. The mesmerizing experience of candle light dinner on the boat in the lake is just meant for those special romantic moments. Statuesque trees give the unmistakable view from the esplanade.
Lot enjoyable and more fun with the activities. It was a very good exercise and relaxing. Must visit this and enjoy the day. Sabari was a well trained and experienced person. The restaurant is very good.

The Radisson Resort Pondicherry Bay awaits you in a quaint coastal fishing village of the small yet varied Pondicherry on the southern coast of India. Nestled between a lagoon and the popular Paradise Beach, the serene resort creates a perfect balance with the lively nearby city center, which attracts many tourists with its unmistakable French connection, cosmopolitan flair, and inherent ambiance. Pondicherry's beautiful colonial architecture is reflected throughout the resort's design, with Franco-Tamil inspired interiors and the use of local materials like the classic Athugudi floor tiles from Chettinad. Guests can enjoy maximum comfort and wonderful views of the surrounding area and lagoon in the 46 chalets and 5 villas.
The Radisson Hotel is stunningly beautiful. The white buildings of the Hotel contrast with the Green verdant gardens. We stayed in a groundfloor chalet near the Bay Bistro restaurant. The chalet had a small garden behind it which is accessible through French doors. The outside verandah has a pleasant sit out area. The room itself is quite spacious. One oops moment as the chaise at the foot of the bed was creaking ominously. We realised that the plywood base was very thin and unstable. Raja, the housekeeping incharge got us a rollaway bed and assured us we would not be charged as it was fault of hotel ( A view not held by Mr Surya at reception who phoned at 10 pm after we slept to ask for bed back or he would charge us). The only Grinch at Radisson. Not quite sure why calling late night was needed. The rooms are 3 occupancy . Vignesh and Vidhya were were efficient and kind to settle us in. Mr Clarence at Bay Bistro Restaurant in contrast was gentleman to the core. It was a pleasure to meet him. He assured us any dishes we liked would be provided even if not in menu. The hotel is close to Eden Beach. After exiting an outdoor play area we can go through rough trail and climb a short ramp to the promenade that leads to the beach. The beach has white sands and is incredibly clean. The hotel has a salt splash pool or kids with salt water and a larger pool for adults. There is a sundeck where snacks are served approximately betweem 4 and 5 pm. The property is sparkling and clean. Very relaxing place.

Palais de Mahe (a CGH Earth experience) is situated in the French quarter in Pondicherry, India. The architecture of this beautiful boutique hotel is in keeping with the French colonial style of the region. It has 18 luxurious suites, a lovely courtyard with a swimming pool, a restaurant and bar, and a poolside cafe.
I was revisiting Pondicherry after 22 years and I decided to book the hotel Palais de Mahe, as it appeared to meet all my needs. My stay was fabulous! The service was exceptional and exceeded all of my expectations. The hotel itself is beautiful and extremely well maintained. My room was stunning and exquisitely furnished. All amenities are provided and my bed was so comfortable, I enjoyed 5 nights of blissful sleep. There is a wonderful roof top restaurant and bar, along with a ground floor cafe next to the lovely swimming pool. Well located in White Town, the hotel is a short walk to the beach, Bharati Park, (where I enjoyed early morning walks), Aribindou Ashram and all that Pondicherry has to offer. However, the absolute highlight of my stay was the staff and their incredible hospitality!! 7 Star! Every single person. The level of service is amazing.. A huge thanks to the following people for making my stay so special. Dinu, GM, Jaghan and Fakhakhrudin, front desk, Arun-Kumar, head of housekeeping and to the housekeeping team, especially Santosh - thank you so much for the amazing "towel animals" - so creative - I loved the elephants, monkey and crocodile. Food and beverage - Ragahavan, Bhuvanesh, Nithya and Prassa for super friendly, helpful and efficient service. Ayurvedic Spa - Greeshma worked magic on my aches and pains. If I have forgotten anyone by name please pass on my thanks to all the team! I would highly recommend anyone visiting Pondicherry to stay at Palais de Mahe. An experience you do not want to miss!! I can't wait to return. Again a huge thanks to all of the staff for making my stay so very memorable and special.

Our village is designed for travelers who are looking for a place for a long, leisurely stay surrounded by tranquility, peace, and comfort. This 25-acre eco-friendly beach village features uniquely designed bungalows and cottages, a swimming pool, a tennis court and 700m of pristine beach. The Dune welcomes guests all through the year. We aim to create an environment "to live in harmony with nature and men".
- When you enter the place, you definitely feel that you made the right choice because the property is beautiful with lots of trees, plants and birds. It is an expansive area with many "mini houses" spread across the whole space. The property is so big that you will need a "buggy" (mini van) to go to your room. - But that feeling of making the right choice can quickly dissipates once you actually start living and experiencing the place. Yes, you will continue to enjoy the nature but your human interactions with people working in that hotel won't be pleasant. The staff (many of whom are guys just trying to make a living so I do feel sorry for them) is just not trained. Considering the amount we paid (13k for one night in the luxury suit), the service felt like we are living in a 1-star hotel. - We had breakfast and dinner but unfortunately that was also not a great experience. Food quality isn't that great and did I mention that the service was terrible? Oh, I did! The breakfast happens in a messy area and since it is hot this time of the year, everyone is sweaty. The people sweating the most, are of course the staff. The management has given them terrible dress to wear in this weather which absorbs all their sweat. The outcome? The whole dining area smells terribly of sweat. Again, not the fault of poor guys who are just trained and managed very poorly. - They do provide old and rusty bikes to explore their campus but drive them at your own risk! The brakes don't really work and because the "roads" are broken, you will have to be extra careful. - Beach is also not very well maintained. Moreover, you have to walk a bit to actually reach to the shore and enjoy the vast ocean. I am sure there are better places in pondi to enjoy the ocean. They made a beach bar long time ago but of course it is non-functional. There is also a nice AC dining area but that was also closed for renovation. - In any case, if you don't care at all about the service and just want to experience few days in quiet nature, this may turn out to be the right place for you. If you do decide to go with it, my recommendation would be to not spend more than 6k or 7k a night. It really isn't worth more than that. It definitely has great potential if they improve the quality of the service and train their staff better.

A beach resort having sea view for all the rooms.
The hotel is in a very good spot and the property is huge with a lot of scope to be an amazing spot. However, the maintenance is at it's worst so do yourself a favour and avoid at all costs. I wouldn't go back even if someone offered me a free stay here. The good part was the beach, the pool, the lawn and the complementary breakfast which was fine. I paid 24000 for 3 rooms and an extra bed and i feel robbed, it was not even worth 1/4th of what I paid. More details to help you decide not to go here: 1. Cockroaches and other insects flying in the hallway 2. Either the fan or the AC or the taps won't work in any room you get 3. Water drips from the ACs in all the rooms 4. The rooms on the first floor have a balcony overlooking the beach which was something I looked forward to but the trees outside the room where unkempt so all we saw were leaves even though there was a beautiful beach beyond 5. The bar has crow poop all over the table, the chairs and the drinking glasses. 6. Security is also an issue. Any outsider can walk into the bar and into the stay area as well. No one will know a thing. I don't remember seeing any cctv cameras around. Zero intention or interest by the management to take efforts to offer a better stay. They just want to make money. I booked based on a few decent reviews and gave the place a benefit of doubt since I was booking last minute and had no other option. Now I regret and wish I just stayed home. I hope this review puts some of you off and saves you some bucks.

***WARNING FOREIGNERS*** We booked with Agoda, as an English couple (have been in india 3 months). We had previously correspondended with the resort discussing our arrival and a request for a double bed (Quote from Email: " Hello Olly, I am glad to hear that you chose the OYO hotel for your stay! Our first priority is to provide the room with a healthy environment. ") They were aware of our ethnicity and we looked forward to our stay. On arrival at 9pm, (after 4 hours in a taxi from the airport) we checked in, and when he was about to hand the keys he phoned someone, to then say "you no stay, no foreigners allowed". We explained we had already paid in full, we had no cash, it was late, we had nowhere to stay... To receive zero compassion. "No foreigner stay here says my boss". We ask: Can we speak to your boss? "No." Can you book us into another OYO resort? "No." Can you call a taxi? "No." Can you give us WiFi? Thankfully he reluctantly spoke the password. We then contacted Agoda Customer Care and started conducting our own individual research to find somewhere to stay. Then it gets better. My bursting bladder from travelling 4 hours by road I was desperate to use the bathroom "can I use a toilet?" "No." "No?" I ask. I explain my desperate circumstance, horrified to hear the response: "Toilet in room. No foreigner in room". Wow.... I was left NO CHOICE but to squat like a small child, and with humiliation, urinate on the ground outside the reception, with tears of anger. ONLY AFTER did i hear him: "Ma'am, you go toilet" passing me some keys. After I had been? Well I didn't need to go anymore did I. Eventually we got through to some accomodation who would take us, and booked our own taxi. This is a warning to "FOREIGNERS" looking to book this accomodation- you will NOT be accepted in, you will NOT be helped or treated with any humane compassion. ***AVOID.***
