Well-worn

Reviewed By danv961

I am positive I made a reservation for an ocean view twin room with club access. Upon checkin I was given an ocean view family room with no club access. Was told I could access the club for 120,000 won per day. Breakfast would be an addition 100,000 per day. Asked if I could speak to the manager all I got was a blank stare. Room 623 is right across from housekeeping and the elevators. Thumps and bumps and screaming kids all hours of the day and night. Friend with club access took us to happy hour. I was the guest free of charge the other paid 31,000. At checkin we were told 120,000. Next morning went to breakfast, charged 100,000 and shown to a tiny table shoved in a corner with no view even though there were plenty of tables at the window. We left and found the cute Josun Deli practically on the beach. Had time to kill in the afternoon. Stopped by the coffee shop and was greeted with “We don’t have any window tables.” No hello or how many. The person who came in behind me was given a table window. Overnight, around 4 am, the room lights began to flash and off for no reason. On and off over and over. Fought with the master switch. Flashing happened three times before I managed to pull out the night stand and unplug the master control from the wall. Not a good nights sleep. Overall an ok stay. Hotel is dated and well-worn. I would think there could have been some better service with regards to club access. I made the reservation several months ago. Why a room across from housekeeping and the elevators? Would think those rooms would be the last to assign. There are other options near the beach

It was our second stay at the hotel (not resort next door) and we’ve enjoyed both visits, but there are a few issues. It’s a solid 4 star hotel in my opinion - for 5 stars the service and amenities are not quite up to scratch. All the staff need briefing on Covid etiquette because the Korean media (like all problems) have managed to convince the Korean people it’s a foreign issue. Therefore, if you’re a foreigner, then you almost certainly have Covid seems to be the logic. Forget the fact it is an Asian born pandemic solved by western medicine and the fact any foreigner entering to hotel will have likely had many more PCR tests to be there than the average Korean! Like previous visitors I got told I have to wear a swim cap inside, but not outside in the pool area. It’s the same pool with the same filter system so it’s hard to understand why this rule is in place. It’s a very Asian rule - swimming pools around the world work fine without people wearing swim caps, but Korean hotels love rules. Having swam I got changed and went up to the gym. A staff member came and told me I can’t workout in the same clothes I swam in. I told him I got changed and offered him my dry tshirt to touch. He then said I need to go change into hotel provided clothes. I said I’m fine in my own. He then said I need to go tell reception I’m using the gym. I said I’ve already checked into the pool/gym. He then said I need to go check my temperature again. I said I’ve checked my temperature when I checked in and that I’m not going anywhere. He left. There is no way Korean guests are getting this amount of unwanted attention. The manager needs to brief his staff. For the price, the breakfast buffet needs work. The quality of sausage is poor - I know good sausage in Korea is hard to find but that’s what the 5th star is about. The bacon was undercooked. I asked for a poached egg as it’s always a great indicator of how good the hotel is - try it when you travel! The egg station staff didn’t know what a poached egg was so I showed them a photo. I was told “no”. Easy to do, but “no”. I suggest the restaurant manger has a morning devoted to eggs. Requests like that should be brought over to the table like in any other 5 star hotel. I asked for an English Breakfast tea and was given a mug filled with hot milk and a tea bag plonked into it! See the photo! Ha - 5 star?! I sat down, but then thought I should show them. I asked for a pot of hot water. They didn’t have a pot except for one on display so I took that! I then asked for milk in a jug and a cup, saucer, teabag and teaspoon and put them all on a tray together. I told them that’s how you serve English Breakfast tea. We are the dinner buffet on our first visit and it was good but very expensive. If you fancy a homemade burger, ribs and a beer I recommend that you walk over the road to ‘Wave’ bar - delicious! Overall, the hotel is nice and so are most of the staff. We’ve enjoyed our stays here. I’m just not convinced it’s worth the money unless you’re rich and don’t care.

Average hotel in Jeju

Reviewed By GuyaneseMadness

We stayed at the Hotel Regentmarine Jeju during a multi-city stop in South Korea. Check in: we arrived before the check in time, so we filled out all necessary paperwork and we were told we'd be notified when our room was ready. The person checking us in was a bit dismissive of us at the time and wasn't the most helpful when it came to help with finding a cafe. I'm not sure if it was due to a language barrier, but it was not a very warm welcome. We ended up finding a great cafe nearby where we hung out until almost check in time. Upon arrival, as there wasn't anyone else checking in, we decided to inquire if our room was ready. The staff member who was helping us, let us know that the room was ready and she was also a lot friendlier than the first person checking us in. Room: The room was very spacious and had two rooms. The view from the room was also quite great. The room was very clean. It was a very standard room by many means. The bathroom had toiletries and unfortunately for us, the heated toilet seat, did not work. Grounds: the hotel has a little restaurant and tuck shop located within it. On the website for the hotel we were not notified that the pool was out of order. It was one of the reasons we chose this hotel, but it didn't hinder our trip. Overall, we had a decent stay at the Hotel Regentmarine Jeju. I probably wouldn't recommend this hotel if you're going to spend a lot of time at it. If you're going to be touring around the island and exploring however, if you can get it for a great price, I'd recommend.

The nearest airport is Gimhae International Airport, which is a 50-minute drive from the hotel. Located in a popular area in Busan! It is easier to find than other accommodations in this area. The couple's preferred country—work with couples scored 9.0 points. The most economical lodging in downtown Busan! It's more valuable than other lodging in this city. It is also supported in your language!

Very Bad Experience in Busan.

Reviewed By Culinary-Consultants

The Room average clean (found some hairs), good view and quiet for the most. The price a bit stiff for the amenities the room has, but I can overcome this. The Staff at the reception placed us in a room where there was a construction and renovation going on. The staff tried to be accommodation to a point, but the staff does not speak English AT ALL. It was very frustrating to ask for directions, assistance of any kind and later when we showed our frustration the staff started to act weird around us. I find incredible that in South Korea's second biggest city, the staff at an International Hotel CANNOT Speak English. Additionally the hotel is placed in a building with several other hotels each one overtaking 2 or 3 floors. Therefore the waiting time in front of the elevators was exhausting. All in all a very bad experience and on top of that this hotel has no restaurant and hotel free private parking just does not exist. Highly disappointed as the staff neither said goodbye, no sorry, as if we were never there or our business was irrelevant.

Great place if not too crowded

Reviewed By thelonious22

Lotte Resort Sokcho is the top notch accommodation in the city with its superb location on top of a hill with three sides of the property having ocean views. We booked the pricier condo room that has a full kitchen and two bedrooms. With visits to restaurants being ill-advised during the pandemic, it was nice to be able to prepare all the food in the room while enjoying the comfort level of a higher end hotel. I probably don’t want to be there when it’s near full capacity as the elevator wait time was frustrating and the check-in process wasn’t all that efficient.

This is a more korean style hotel. You can experience the korean way of living as there’s a room which you can sleep on the floor. As it is in Dec and the weather is cold, the floor is warm with heater and your clothes can be dry overnight if you put it on the floor. There’s also a bed if you do not wants to sleep on the floor. There’s no big tower as korean use only small tower when they bathe. Supermaket is located on the basement and there’s washing machine where you can put money to wash your clothes.

Stunning architecture, with beautiful grounds. Kid friendly and well located. The hotel staff were also kind enough to advise us re activities we were interested in like tangerine picking (which they told us to just go to their backyard for free) and recommendations on where to eat.
