Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang Province and one of the seven ancient capitals of China. It was described by Italian traveler Marco Polo as the finest and most luxurious city in the world. The West Lake scenic area contains over 60 cultural relic sites and several attractions of natural beauty, and a cruise on the lake is a good option to view several sites. Hangzhou is also a good place to visit a tea plantation.

I did have a very great experience when I stayed in Sheraton Hangzhou. Decoration, food ,and everything is perfect and I can sense that I’m very welcomed. Well on the other hand, the parking is a slightly bit far away from the hotel but it still can be acceptable.

Hotel was fine. Nothing spectacular. At multiple times throughout my 2-day stay, I’d say 4/5 of the lobby staff wasn’t wearing a mask, or had it on below the chin. Unlike other hotels, nobody took peoples’ temperature upon arrival, something that seems like it should be the norm. At night a dinner party came in and out of the lobby, some of them smoking openly. Room was nice, albeit located in a shopping area without the feel of being in a Wetland. Rooftop pool was closed due to light rain, understandably so. Breakfast was fine. Overall, the location is nice if you want a change from West Lake and can get to enjoy the wetlands. I have 50+ nights in different hotels this year, and overall, I was underwhelmed by the Angsana here and also in Xian. You’re paying for the name brand I think. You can get better service, food, accommodations in some of the lower levels of Accor hotels.

Surrounded by tea fields, woodland and lush groves of bamboo, Amanfayun celebrates the spirit of a Chinese village, with stone pathways leading to shaded courtyards and peaceful abodes. Situated on 14 hectares near UNESCO-protected West Lake, the resort offers an Aman Spa, swimming pool and several village eateries ranging along Fayun Pathway, the village's main thoroughfare.
Two months ago we stayed at Amanyangyun in Shanghai where we had a superb experience. So we thought we could book a stay Amanfayun, but unfortunately it was not up to the level of our first Aman stay. 1. The English of the staff was quite basic at the reception and all around. I asked to change the room but the request was not properly addressed and we felt they were not considerate of the fact we had a baby on a stroller and our room was quite far behind the main road with a lot of stairs up and down. 2. Breakfast was a la carte and as soon as we checked in (1pm) they were asking us to select the breakfast for the next day. This was very weird, real Covid times are gone and as if they would need a lot to prepare. The menu was actually quite limited, again comparing to Amanyangyun it was quite poor. 3. The western food was nothing special weather breakfast or the lunch & dinner menu - would expect to be much better in such a hotel. Anyhow all the other Chinese restaurants were really good, including the vegetarian. 3. First day we wanted to go to the pool, it was a nice day. There had been a "typhoon" the day before so the pool had some leaves and as the staff mentioned some insects, so we took a look and it just had to be cleaned but no one was up to do so. This was crazy, for the price we pay we cannot use this facility because no one is up to clean the pool? Second day we where there for around 10minutes, when one guy comes and starts to spread this insect killing smoke which has a super strong smell for sure harmful plus was super noisy we had to leave. Third day & last day it was really sunny so we did manage to hang out in the pool in the afternoon. The staff who takes care of the pool lied down on a sun bed and played with his phone all afternoon. It was weird also that there is no pool food or drinks services, however we asked and after some attempts it was accepted to order lunch from the restaurant. Plus we had to wear a swim cap, and if we didn't have we had to pay around 100rmb for this. We didn't come prepared with a swim cap because at Amanyangyun they have two pools and it was never required to wear a swim cap. 4. The hotel is now being painted (finally) but we noticed that most white walls around the hotel including the spa were actually filthy! I've stayed in really cheap hotels where nothing compares to how dirty they walls were here. 5. Despite this, the staff is really polite and do try to do their best, but we didn't feel that warm welcome and attention as we did at Amanyangyun. We felt a bit "abandoned", no staff ever asked us how our stay is going or even in the end if we enjoyed our stay, if we need anything, or properly guide us through the hotel premises. No history was shared, it felt a bit soul less. We had high expectations according to our previous stay so felt quite disappointing at Amanfayun. We will not go back for sure.

This was a recommendation by an acquaintance who is a local. We had never heard of the location or the hotel but were pleasantly surprised. The room was beautifully designed with a small living area, the mini bar, a bathroom which can be opened to the bedroom (Or closed with sliding doors) with a fabulous bathtub. The bedroom had a lovely tea table against a window as well as a small balcony which is right next to the lake. As it is spring we woke up each morning to the gardens outside the balcony which was smothered with cherry blossom petals that had fallen during the night. The hotel is very conveniently located and is within walkable distance to nearby restaurants as well as areas of interest. The hotel itself offers a wide range of dining options as well as activities for everyone. Great for families with children or just someone who likes nice country walks. The hotel staff are helpful and friendly. We were particularly impressed by Mr Jin who took is ok a tricycle ride and introduced us around the area Will definitely visit again soon.

Stayed here on friends recommendation. Room was at 8322 which was nice and spacious. The hotel rooms looks a bit dated, but maintained well and was fairly clean. It's Chinese tradition to smoke in the rooms and you could smell this. Not even the nice aroma of the hotel get get rid of the stench of cigarettes. The small room next to us had people smoking in it, and u could smell it. Mentioned this to the management about why not turn the whole hotel into a NON SMOK8NG HOTEL as it would benefit them,. They said it's culture and cannot change people from smoking. Which is bullS**t because all they need to do is charge the rooms 1000 rmb if people smoke. Simple. Pool was nice, greenery was nice. Chinese restaurant was nice. Service was OK I guess. Breakfast - Same everyday more or less. The problem with the breakfast area was the small amount of seats available. Need faster turnaround of people eating. Two easy ways to do this because it was the families that were taking forever : 1st is the snooker table, take the balls away and don't permit people to play during breakfast, kids eat, and then play whilst parents watch the phone. People waiting to sit down whilst these people playing snooker are hogging up the tables. It's a breakfast,. People should eat and then out. 2nd is get rid of the kids candy area and candy floss maker. Same principal as the snooker table. Parents on phones whilst kids playing with the candy floss or waiting their turn. Take away the snooker balls and candy floss maker, you get a quicker turnaround for breakfast tables. Not rocket science. Good stay but room for improvement. Final note = wearing a swim cap is total nonsense. One rule for others and another rule for others, inconsistent.

this place is like a fairy tale. the rooms are not rooms but kind on small villas or villettes in the middle of the jungle or bush and they are nicely decorated though not too large. they are really tastily furnished and you can have your meals inside. it is really charming and romantic but also a great place for families with kids

The owner of this boutique hotel is delightful, friendly gracious calm and helpful. Watching him prepare breakfast was a delight, like a zen master her did everything with such loving precise care, and the meal was simple and delicious. He was very generous, providing us with tea, moon cake and fruit in our rooms and also giving us a gift as we left. He does not speak much english but uses his phone on translate to communicate with you. He is obviously a very artistic man, and his hotel was stylish and beautifully decorated with art work and ornaments, and was a visual feast of intersting objects to admire. A lovely contrast to many more functional but boring souless hotels we had stayed in. He had also created a pretty outdoor areas with plants and tables. ( most courtyard outdoor areas in china are dumping grounds for broken bits and pieces and rubbish) so it was a charming surprise to see the care gone into this part of his guest house. Our room was large, with a nice bathroom , air conditioning and a comfortable bed. My only complaint was the noise we heard from families with little children running up and down the stairs and hallway. So its nice that he creates a family friendly atmosphere, but I would have liked those families to be encouraged and reminded by hotel staff to be more considerate of other guests. It is a bit out of town and is a tricky place to find, but it located in a peaceful tree filled leafy neighborhood close to a famous temple . There is a street with several restaurants nearby for dining, but otherwise you are far away form, the busyness and shops.
