China’s third-largest city is the capital of Guangdong Province and a thriving commercial center. Its location on the Pearl River and proximity to Hong Kong has made Guangzhou a strategic port for centuries. Glimpse old temples and gleaming steel towers on an architectural tour. Visit one of four Chimelong theme parks for thrills and chills. Once called Canton, Guangzhou is considered the home of traditional (read Cantonese) “Chinese food.” Foodies will find more restaurants per capita here than anywhere else in China.

Had two delightful staycations here in the last month. Excellent service from the courteous staff and outstanding facilities. A special thanks must go to Danlen who went above and beyond the call of duty to help us arrange some excursions. Decent scran here too.

What started as an optimistic trip to hot springs ended in disappointment. The rooms we got was a twin share, which is actually a small apartment converted to a hotel room. First two bottles of water are complementary, after that they charge you per bottle. There are two restaurants on site, both of which are a bit of a joke. The "western restaurant" has 70% of the items unavailable, with 20% of the remainder being of the Cantonese variety. The Chinese restaurant, Golden Imperial Restaurant, also has 70% of the menu items unavailable. It's clean enough though. As for the hotel itself, it advertises a "gym" which consists of a rack of dumbbells no greater than 22kg and incorrectly labelled, and a few basic cardio machines hastily put into a little room. The staff cannot speak English either, so unless you can speak putonghua you're going to be completely lost in terms of communication. Bottom line, the pictures look pretty but like so many things over here it lacks the substance to back up what it advertises to the world. There are 36 hot spring baths, however they're not cleaned or maintained.

We spent 2 nights at Mayland Resort in June 2020 and couldn't have asked for more! Firstly, the main building itself is spectacular and we spent our days relaxing at the many hot springs and swimming pools, before going to the spa to get a massage. We arrived and got a free upgrade to a room that was spectacular - cosy living room, spacious bedroom joined to a modern bathroom with bath and showers. Our trip was full of surprises as the staff found out it was a birthday trip, there was beautiful birthday decorations on the bed, and a cohort of staff knocked our door to sing happy birthday and give us a cake! We then got a private room for the delicious complimentary breakfast in the morning. We spent the whole trip smiling and this was in part to the wonderful service, but the scenery itself could put a smile on your face. Can't wait to go back!

Not sure how old the hotel is but it surely looks pretty old and desperately needs some update. The carpet is not clean and wall paper/paintings peeling... It’s definitely not a 5-star hotel. We were disappointed.

We travelled to this hotel based on a recommendation of a friend who had visited a year earlier. What a difference a year makes... the design is good and I am sure it looked great when it first opened but the maintenance of the property and the lasting power of the design is very weak. The room and facilities had already started to look rundown. There was also a smell of damp and mould in the room. The food is below average, especially for meals outside of breakfast. The spa services were OK. The hotsprings are quite crowded, people can be fairly loud so it's not that relaxing and it's a bit gross to be honest because you can hear other patrons hawking up phlegm or see them checking their feet or examining and picking at other parts of their body below the water or they discard things by the hot springs. It was really off-putting and we couldn't wait to escape. Service is limited/staff are disinterested. We walked everywhere instead of taking the golf cart but it's there if you need/want it. I would not recommend and will not be returning.

This is a beautiful place with a hugh garden, a gigantic golden standing KwangIm statue and a nice temple. Although it's a bit far from Guangzhou city centre (about an hour drive) , it's definitely worth a visit!

The staff at Oriental Resort looks forward to serving you during your upcoming visit.
It was a nice resort hidden away from the public roads. Access is by a winding motorway lined with trees. It is built spaciously at the foot of the Baiyun Hill. The tennis courts are reasonably maintained but not fully booked. The Chinese restaurant serves good food at reasonable price. The lack of spa facilities has prevented it from being vandalized. Nice place for a short leave to recharge your batteries particularly when you are a tennis fan.

We are multilingual, multi national group all native or 100% fluent speakers of English AND Mandarin. We prepaid due to their requirement, due to the holiday. We were sold "river view" for two nights. We were really excited, as it sounded great. At check in, when the desk clerk was running my credit card for the security fee, she purposefully ran the card through the system three times with the wrong password. For those of you without passwords on your visa card, by running it with the wrong password, it invalidates the card, requiring the card holder to physically go to the bank to reactivate the card. She did this on New Years Eve.... So now I'll not have my credit card to pay for anything until the 3rd or 4th. When confronted, of course she said she didn't know (impossible, and a lie; her coworker said she heard me say it to her, and so the girl changed her story). We were told that we would have to change rooms for the second night. Obviously that did not fit in to our expectations. Complaining did no good. We checked into the room, which is nice. The only things to complain about are the tv is small, and the AC-heating system is disabled. It was cold in the room at night. The morning brought the staff trying to make us check out of the first room before noon, yet not giving the next room until four pm No way. During packing up, a glass was broken. We told them, as we didn't want anyone hurt. They assigned the next room, but it over looked the road, not the river. Also the room wasn't as good. When we brought this up to the manager, he said he'd look into it. We went out for food. Upon returning to the hotel, we were stunned to find out that our key didn't work for our room... When we went to the frontdesk they explained they had moved all of our stuff with out telling us.... And their rationale was to give us the room we'd paid for- irony eh? I was not pleased they had gone through my stuff to move us, especially as I had valuables. The room was the original room we were in the first night! As we were told the room the second night would be better, every thing is a lie. They made us accept the room move by an upgrade, then move us to the road side view, and then give the same room back! So when we went back in to the original room, no one had bothered to clean up the broken glass! Stay away.
