At the end of a month long cruise to China and Japan, we had 1 full day in Tokyo to see as much as possible. Mr Oriol was our guide for the day. He was very knowledgeable, providing information about Tokyo's history, culture and sites to see. The day was quite flexible and at our own pace. There was no expectation that we would hurry through each destination. At some sites Mr Oriol accompanied us, at others he waited patiently for us to finish. He joined us for lunch and guided our choice from the menu. We were delighted with Tokyo Grand Tours and would highly recommend to anyone wanting a chauffeured personal tour of Tokyo. Guy readily communicated with us prior to our arrival in Tokyo and our 'pick-up' was problem free. Mr Oriol was always courteous and enthusiastic. Great value for money.

We chose Tokyo Bleisure Trip for a private tour of the live tuna auction at Toyosu Market followed by a food walk of the old Tsukiji Market. Takashi was a warm, friendly and informative guide. From timely prior communication to sharing restaurant/sightseeing recommendations afterwards, it was a pleasure interacting with him from start to finish. Takashi met us at our hotel and we promptly started our tour at 5 AM. We first headed to the new wholesale fish market, Toyosu Market, and viewed the auction from the upper observation deck. Takashi patiently explained the entire process and shared some interesting facts and figures about the auction. Being Christmas eve, we were lucky to witness the auction on one of the busiest days of the year, where thousands of tuna were up for sale. This was followed by an omasake sushi breakfast at the famous Daiwa restaurant. We ended the tour with a food walk of the old Tsukiji fish market, where we savoured local street snacks like daifuku, taiyaki, karage and tamogoyaki. Takashi even helped us purchase local spices and Japanese pottery. A great experience overall and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tokyo! Tip: Plan at least one month in advance if you would like to view the auction from the lower observation deck. Make sure to reach on time, or the auction will get over within half an hour on the days with less catch.

My husband and 2 sons (ages 11 and 13) loved our virtual tour of Tokyo. Nino was a fantastic guide and filled the hour with historical, cultural and fun facts! She was able to keep all of us at all ages engaged. It was a welcome diversion for this time of no-travel and very few experiences in the world because of the pandemic. We all can't wait to book our trip when the time allows!

Yanesen is considered as the Old Tokyo Neighborhood, or "shitamachi", which translates to low city. A popular activity here includes walking along wooden houses and silent temples while smelling fresh brewed coffee and spotting cats. The tour begins with a visit to the Nezu Shrine, one of the most beautiful shrine in Tokyo due to its slope of red torii gates. We continue the walking tour exploring paved alleys of old houses, temples and precious small traditional gardens. Had a great time with our lovely tour guide. We started off in a building that sells collectibles, which we wouldn't have known about if it wasn't for our guide. After that, we headed off to a maid café where we got ourselves some lovely dessert in the shape of bears and bunnies. The chocolate latté was amazing! Really friendly maids despite not being able to speak English. Took some pictures with the maids and then continued to a nearby gaming hall where we dressed up for some purikura shots. We got good information about the Akihabara area and Japanese culture in general. Interesting to speak to a Japanese person about life in Japan. Overall a really great tour which I would recommend!

The session with Noriko was great and I recommend it even if you are worried about virtual experience. I have done several virtual tours but this was the best one full of excellent information. Noriko answered all my questions had great food and sake information to deliver.

While we were sad to have to cancel our July trip to Japan due to the pandemic, we found the process of working with Japan Awaits to be easy and efficient. I can't speak to the full experience since we weren't able to go, but filling out the form and our communication with the company was no problem. And their prompt and courteous response to our request for a refund speaks to their professionalism. We will definitely come back to ask for their help in procuring tickets to the Studio Ghibli Museum when we do finally make it to Japan! Fingers crossed for next summer.
