The 10 Best Private Tours in Boa Vista, Boa Vista

January 6, 2022 Matilde Konrad

The soundtrack of tranquil Boa Vista is the sweet tweets of exotic birds. Maybe they’re chattering with loggerhead turtles or with the humpback whales that are known to splash around Boa Vista’s shallow waters. Work up a sweat and hike to the wreck of the Santa Maria, or explore the Duque de Braganca Fort, built to protect the Ilheu de Sal Rei from pirates. The windswept red and tan sand dunes of Deserto de Viana are awe-inspiring.

We were two people only on this tour and so, we could get interesting information on Cabo Verde when talking to the guide. However, the program of the tour is not flexible and adapted to the participants but has fixed stations. We enjoyed to visit the desert in the middle of the island, looks like Sahara and not many people there. The pottery at Rabil was ok but many tourists and not much to be seen - we did not see how the pottery was produced, it was just sold. We did not like the visit to Povoacao Velha, were several shop owners tried to urge us to buy something. At Praia de Chaves which is beautiful with its caves there were crowds of tourists with Quads. We liked Santa Monica Beach, which is not overcrowded and beautiful. This was also the last place of our trip and definitely deserved a visit. The Boca Beach restaurant would not be our first choice for lunch as it it quite expensive but there is no alternative.

We do Whale watching in small groups up to 8 clients. It´s personal and we cherish our clients. We know all your names and that makes it exclusive, with us you are not just a number during our excursion, all our clients have names! Whale - watching for us means always keeping a safe distance and to take it slow. We won't run fast, we are sailing with time. Sometimes we also use our motor to approach but we won't disturb our friends. We should always remember we are guest's in their home! Whale - watching starts at the beginning of March, But please be aware the sea can still be rough. You need to be healthy, therefore if you suffer from seasickness please come prepared.

I booked the boavista all island tour with kai and I really enjoyed it. Kai picked us up at the hotel at all places we visited we had enough time to explore the place and finding our individual fun and at the end after a lot of fun going sand boarding we saw whales jumping in the sea. Boa Vista as a desert island seems not to have a lot of variation but with a little sensibility and an artistique eye you are able to make a mass of impressive fotos. Thank you Kai for making me love this island

Communication with the manager via whatsapp was very good, despite the slightly makeshift look of the office everything felt absolutely professional. I made a reservation before our arrival and had to alter the deal slightly, the manager handled everything perfectly and was very forthcoming. The Renault Duster we rented left nothing to ask for, sure it had some visual signs of usage as expected for a car thats driven off road a lot, but despite of this it was 100% functional. Only slight downside was that we couldn't connect our smartphones to the stereo via bluetooth. I recommend bringing an Aux cable if music is important to you, just in case.
