The largest of the twelve Dodecanese islands on the Aegean's eastern edge, Rhodes is also its most popular. The well-preserved medieval city of Rhodes sits at the north of the island of the same name. High rise hotels line the northern and eastern coastlines. Small villages and resorts dot the island's other shores. Whether your interests are beaches, bars or ancient sites, Rhodes offers an abundance of all three. Authentic Greece can be found in the hilly interior of the 50-mile long island.

Largely rebuilt by the Italians this is a very beautiful building - lovely views from the windown and lots and lots of interesting stuff for history buffs - beautiful mosaic floors nicked from Kos. You do get a feel for how the palace was during the crusades.

Located at the site of the Murad Reis Mosque you will find this hidden gem. After Murad Reis was burried here in 1609, this cemetery was established around the Mosque for Turkish or Ottoman Sailors. It even became a Shrine for them.

The Medieval Moat was built to keep enemies away from the main fortification system but unlike other Moats this one has never been submerged in water. It is about 2.5km long and a very nice walk! There is even a theatre inside the Moat and you can spot Sand Martins.
