The NMAC Foundation is a unique open air museum in Southern Spain. Contemporary art in perfect harmony with nature.
My 7th visit now. A great way to spend some time away from the beach - just €5 to walk the trail under the cool trees and see a good range of outdoor sculptures. Allow at least two hours for both sections and the indoor bunker buildings (the dog video and haman are great). The James Turrell is the best I've seen anywhere in the world - a definite highlight.

We love this romantic white town on top of the mountain. You can walk there from the Finca and spend a wonderful time wandering through the cobblestone streets and enjoying the spectacular views. Definitely worth a visit!

We made a special trip to Grazelema to see the woollen textile factory and goods. We found it and were helped by the receptionist/sales clerk. She was very helpful and very pleasant even though there was a language barrier. Let's face it, women will find a way to communicate especially when it comes to shopping choices. I made a great choice and look forward to wearing my short Cape in the fall/winter in cooler temps. I love that this woollen garment is made here in Grazelema from the growing of the woolly sheep to the manufacturing of the garment. A perfect authentic souvenir from Spain. Note: check for siesta times of closure during the week and weekend closure so you will not be disappointed. If I remember correctly they are closed from 1:30 weekdays (siesta) and reopen later in the day and are closed from 1:30 PM on Fridays through to Monday morning when it reopens. Please check their website to make sure.

The Castle of Jimena is a special stop for my family. I have lived in the region for many years and have enjoyed bringing visitors to this site. We enjoy driving to the parking area by the ancient church at the very top of town. From there it is only a few steps from the entry ramp, where history has played itself out with the first Iberians, Romans, Moors and Spaniards. A historian will note that much of historic Jimena was damaged during the great battles fought bravely against the French during the War of Independence two hundred years ago. My family enjoys the free entry to the castle, the beautiful panoramic views, and the hiking trails down to Ruta Vega de Hozgarganta and views of the ruins of the military munitions factory on the banks of the Hozgarganta River.
