The midpoint of Europe is a geographical point and a sweet and interesting sculpture which is part of a lovely long tree lined and gardened central park in lovely old Polotsk. We wandered the length of the park one warm afternoon, enjoying an ice cream and the lovely sights along the way - old buildings nicely restored, lovely gardens, fountains, whimsical sculptures and also statues of important aspects of Polotsk's history. Polotsk is relatively new to international tourism but it has plenty to offer in its quiet kindly way. It is a nice place to visit en route to Vitebsk. However on Monday many museums are closed for the day.
