Whether you are looking for sun-drenched beaches or outdoor activities in beautiful countryside, New Jersey has plenty to offer. Those who love the great outdoors should head for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, which runs along the Delaware River for forty miles. Here you can go rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking or fishing, or simply admire the stunning waterfalls. There is a huge range of hiking trails to choose from as well as historic sites to visit. In winter, you can enjoy cross-country skiing near Blue Mountain Lakes, and birdwatchers might be lucky enough to catch sight of bald eagles. If you are looking for a change, visit one of New Jersey's eleven lighthouses that are open to public, such as the one in Cape May. For art and history enthusiasts, New Jersey State Museum in Trenton has historic artifacts and American fine art from the nineteenth century to the present day as well as a Planetarium.

We walk along the bouleward almost daily. The walk is really enjoyable both during day time and evenings. The walk in recent days - November 2nd week is more enjoyable during the noons when tje Sun is shining. On any day evening walks give a chance to have glimpse of lit skylines of New York which is fascinating.

Princeton University Chapel

Reviewed By rccaia - Princeton, United States

Princeton University's Chapel is amazing! The word 'chapel' conjures up the image of a small space for quiet reflection and prayer. While it is quiet, as it should be, it is anything but small. The chapel is beautiful and very large. Built around 1920 I believe and in the collegiate gothic style as many of Princeton's building are it is a wonderful place to visit if you are in Princeton. Just a short walk, maybe 100 yards into the campus from Nassau Street, you will come to the front entrance. When inside turn around to see the huge pipe organ in the balcony above the entrance. Christmas concerts there are amazing! Very cool place that is worth the visit especially if you like gothic architecture.

Ringwood Manor

I love coming to Ringwood Manor at Christmas Time. It really is a special place when you see it all decorated for the holidays. The whole house is in full Christmas decor. Each room has a different theme to it and is decorated to the hilt. The Friends organization does a nice job showcasing the house at the holidays. I am sure that the family did not decorate that much. My favorite room was the formal dining room that was set for Christmas lunch with all the tableware and fake foods on the side board. The house is beautifully decorated but not overdone. Remember to visit the barn on the property to see all the arts and crafts for sale. In the smaller gift shop in the house, take time to see all the handmade ornaments. One of the crafters is really creative. There is also a small coffee shop in the next building to have a snack. It is really a nice afternoon at the Ringwood Manor.

Lucy the Elephant

Originally named Elephant Bazaar, this six-story elephant-shaped building was built in 1881 by James V. Lafferty, Jr. in hopes of selling parcels of land located on the beach in Margate, NJ. Over the years, this unique structure has served many purposes -- most notably as a tourist attraction. Today, Lucy the Elephant is recognized as the Oldest Roadside Attraction in America and has been declared a National Historic Landmark. There is no charge to visit the site or to shop in the Gift Shop; however, visitors wishing to go inside the elephant must purchase admission tickets to the Guided Tour. Guided Tours through the elephant structure occur every half-hour during business hours, with the last tour of the day beginning 30 minutes prior to closing. Cost of Admission: $8.50 Adults (ages 13 and up) $4.00 Children (ages 3-12) And don't forget to shop our Gift Shop for all of your elephant-themed items, including one-of-a-kind Lucy the Elephant souvenirs available nowhere else!

My three boy and my wife and I visited Lucy this past weekend. We were thrilled to be able to visit the country's oldest extant roadside attraction. This history is absolutely amazing. My kids loved it and we enjoyed our visit. It was first class. We used a Groupon, too, which saved us about $10. But well worth it even at full retail.

Had an event at Hudson House. Stayed overnight Hyatt House. Was worried when we walked into Lobby of old bldg. However, hotel checkin was Terrace Level and was lovely. Room immaculate, view of water front outstanding. Complimentary breakfast delicious. Rooftop bar that we didn’t get to enjoy cause of rain but is open year round. Will definitely stay again. Downtown adorable and safe.

Turkey Swamp Park

When we stayed, the playgrounds and archery were closed because of Covid19. The bathrooms/showers were being cleaned 4x a day and are closed for about 30 minutes (although they took pity on me and let me in once). You're supposed to wear masks in the bathrooms but most people did not (it wasn't very crowded). We had a roomy campsite on the "A" lane on the north side. It was great because we had a view into the woods and it felt private; you can arrange your setup so you don't see anyone else. The downside is that you're about as far as you can be from the bathrooms, but it's only a 5 minute walk). Each campsite has an iron firepit and a grill (you can buy wood in the office), a post with a hook for hanging a camp shower etc., a big picnic table, electric, trash containers, and access to water (in some cases a bit far--bring a long hose. Each campsite shares a water post with two spigots). The ground is flat and sandy and easy to drive stakes and pitch a tent on. Quiet hours are 11-7 and people pretty much cooperated. Rangers drive around periodically. The first night it was so humid that we would have "dew showers" where at first, you think it's raining, but it's dew coming off the leaves. Sites are wooded. We used Deep Woods Off and did not get any ticks (and hardly any mosquito bites). We enjoyed walking the trails during the day. They are pretty flat. It's a nice walk in the woods. We were there Thursday and Fri. When we left on Saturday the campground was filled. I recommend that you reserve in advance, but you have to book a min. of 2 nights.

Beautiful and peaceful. A great place to visit for an outdoor activity without a lot of people. The visitors Center was closed. We enjoyed a wonderful walk outdoors. Learned about General Von Steuben and his contribution to the war. We will go back to explore more.
