Rising up as an indomitable peak at the gateway between Spain and the African coast, Gibraltar is a unique destination with a life that goes beyond its surface. The monolithic Rock of Gibraltar entices tourists with its lush greenery and the friendly Barbary Macaques ubiquitous to the area. Beneath its looming exterior lay the Galleries, a veritable labyrinth of underground passageways running through the Rock. Above ground there is also plentiful tax-free shopping, as well as numerous beaches.

Booked the taxi tour with Chris who was was great, he was very informative, knowledgeable, friendly and had a good sense of humour. Views were amazing and it was fab to see all the monkeys.

Took the Cable Car to the top of the Rock and was met by a family of apes as soon as I stepped off. The apes are very friendly but some people need to read the rules regarding feeding and should not be surprised when a troop takes great interest in them! This is a great way to spend a day up on the Rock as the Cable Car ticket price incorporates additional visits to the many attractions.

The Garrison Library is an amazing and delightful survival in an atmospheric colonial building beautifully preserved and presented. But wait! There's more - it is also a perfectly functional and functioning research library, full of treasures, which are open to consult and visitors are assisted by the friendly and helpful staff. I was able to spend a productive and enjoyable several hours there and it was the highlight of my two days in Gibraltar. Visit, even if only to admire one of the remarkable relics of Britain's colonial past.

We hope you have a wonderful visit!
A lot of restaurants and two casinos [run by the same company] Brunos near the Sunborn hotel have a long happy hour early evening and full of happy people. Ocean Village is a short walk from most of the hotels in Gibraltar so do not get a taxi.

I had no idea when I walked up to this area and discovered the cannon and read the history behind it that I would spend the next 45 minutes taking this all in, cool spot as well.

Visited whilst at Europa point . The side road that says no access other than military vehicles you can walk along from the car park at Europa point . The shrine is right in the middle of army barracks and the Uni of Gib . There are eight or so parking spaces outside the shrine if you can get in ! Shrine has a small plain chapel off it where a candle (proper not electric ) can be lit . Make a visit and take one if the explanatory notes in English of the shrines history .

Lively area with plenty of places to eat and drink even crepe and ice cream vendors. Here is where Roy's Cod Plaice can be found for the best fish and chips we have ever tasted. Even the tuna salad was really nice. There are interesting shops underneath the bastion through an arch. 2 old fashioned red telephone boxes and a post box are situated at one end. Nearby taxis wait to take tourists on a tour on the rock and/or 360 around the city.
