H W Foletta Park is on Glenlyon Street, in Brunswick, at the corner of Garden Street.. Glenlyon Street is a moderately busy road, so some care is needed. This smallish park has tables for picnickers and a range of play equipment for younger children. This public space is welcome in Brunswick, an inner city suburb lacking recreational facilities for children. Dogs can be walked on leash, as long as they are kept away from the play equipment. Grass is lacking, most ground cover is provided by woodchips. Woodchips are cheap to maintain, but grass is softer..

We go often for family gatherings and I walk the dogs there regularly. Small, but a lovely green space.

While Dunstan Reserve has the usual sporting oval, BBQs, playground, drinking fountains, tables and lots of grass, it also has something which I think is unique. It has a Food Forest, made up of trees and plants that make fruit, nuts and herbs. So you can see things growing and know what they are.

Over the last year of so, the Moreland City Council has given Fleming Park a make-over. It has upgraded the play spaces with a climbing tower, basket swing and other new equipment. There's also been improvements to the BBQ and picnic area, with a picnic shelter and new toilets. The lawn has been reseeded, and with a good spring and some sunshine and rain, it's looking good. Shade trees have been planted and the new female-friendly sports pavilion will be welcome. The Council is to be congratulated for the renewal of Fleming Park, which had become a tad dog-eared.

Anderson Park is a small area near the corner of Blyth St and Sydney Road. It has the necessities for a neighbourhood Park -- a playground,,water fountain and a bench, plus some trees to provide shelter from the fierce Australian sun.
