Think you need an ocean for a beach? Think again. There are miles and miles of sandy lakefront beaches in Michigan (thanks to the four Great Lakes that border it). The west coast of Michigan has especially nice beaches—try a rental in Muskegon, Grand Haven or Saugatuck. You won’t need a car when visiting Mackinac Island. In fact, they’re not allowed—this lovely Victorian resort town is pedestrian-only.

Experience World Champion Lumberjacks in a fast paced action packed lumberjack competition, a Mackinaw City MUST SEE! Shows at Jack Pine Lumberjack Shows are approximately an hour long, delivered in a competition format, in which the audience is divided up into two rival logging camps, each camp cheering for their lumberjack. It demostrates the turn of the century skills of the lumberjack including chopping, sawing, axe throwing, cross-cut sawing, speed climbing and logrolling. In addition to the competition, there is also a chain saw carving demonstration. The show educates the audience in the rich history of Michigan's logging past. It is fast paced, up-beat and keeps the audience involved. A fun show for the entire family, children under the age of 5 are free!
This was a favorite of our boys out of all the things we did in the area! They made the show entertaining for everyone, and got the audience involved with cheering for your lumberjack (or booing the “opposing” lumberjack ????). Dakota and Mitchell did an awesome job! Family friendly and wholesome entertainment! Definitely a must see!

Just saw Book of Mormon there tonight. It’s a wonderful space with great seats, lighting and sound. The woman’s restroom was large & the intermission line moved fast! We drove up from Fort Wayne, IN to see this show (2 1/2 hours!) They have many excellent Broadway shows lined up for 2019-2020. We will be back!!

I have seen Myles Kennedy, Wilson, Diamanté and Michael Smerconish (radio and TV talk show host) at this venue. Gorgeous renovation, lots of character, great bar, good acoustics on both stages. A gem in Pontiac for mid-size concerts (200 upstairs, probably 500 downstairs)

Constructed in 1907, St. Andrew's Hall is was the historic meeting site for the St. Andrew's Scottish Society of Detroit. This iconic venue has hosted a multitude of live acts and is a favorite of Detroiters young and old. St. Andrew's is actually three unique spaces in one location. The largest, the Main Ballroom, features a hardwood dance floor, a bar more than 35-feet long, an in-house sound and lighting system as well as unique VIP balcony level seating/standing offering prime viewing opportunities of the stage. Located on the lower level, The Shelter offers a private bar, stage, cabaret seating, a DJ booth, red curtains and private rooms. Going upstairs, The Burns Room includes hardwood floors, chandeliers, lounge furniture, a small raised stage and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Congress and the RenCen. All rooms have open floor plans and can accommodate seating configurations for groups of all sizes and needs.
Love this venue. Staff is very friendly! Standing room only on main floor. Some seating upstairs. There is a coat check.

Not far from Detroit's famed Eastern Market, Trinosophes is the perfect breakfast place to start your day. The atmosphere is artsy, casual, and friendly. And the food is amazing. Pleasant service. Exceptional food. Don't miss the muesli toast. I had the morning's special--fried egg and pumpkin grits. And while you're there, do hesitate to order a pastry from Warda Patisserie's side-by-side pastry case!
