This is our second visit and they certainly do a great Sunday carvery with a choice of four meats and plenty of veg and roasties . If you have yet to try don't be put off because it's a golf club as the restaurant and bar is open to the general public and it's very popular They do children size portions and we think it's very reasonable . The restaurant has some great views of the surrounding grounds and it's not posh it's just a great restaurant with great food

Noticed this place on the map and as a orchid collector decided to visit. When we had arrived the hours had changed but the owner saw us outside and let us in. Very well laid out and plenty of choices. They were very well informed in the up keep of plants and were very helpful

The peace and tranquillity of Stover Golf Club, located on the edge of Newton Abbot, is a convenient treat for golfers in the south west, with easy access from the A38 and M5. We welcome visitors and the public to our bar and restaurant, where we serve a range of delicious light bites, snacks and main meals, all washed down with a variety of local and favourite tipples in the well stocked bar, so even the non golfer can enjoy the views over the course whilst relaxing in the beautiful surroundings. The beautiful parkland golf course features a wide variety of holes, elevation change, mature trees, streams and picturesque ponds, with views of Dartmoor into the distance. A James Braid designed golf course set to the backdrop of natural woodland, a perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery.
Easy to get to off the A38. Course does not have any steep hills to negotiate so just right if you are of ‘senior years’. Conditions of fairways are well looked after. Nice views from the club house. See you again sometime Stover.

We've been here twice now, once after work riding from Stover to Bovey Tracey and back after work one evening on a week day. We arrived at about 1630 and were leaving by 1800hrs. There weren't many other people on the trail so it was a very peaceful way to wind down after a busy day. We returned on bank holiday Sunday and rode from Stover to Newton Abbot then to Bovey Tracey before returning to Stover. The trail was very busy, particularly heading to Newton Abbot with lots of groups of cyclists and families with young children learning to ride. Everyone was extremely polite and courteous, which meant it didn't matter that it was busy. When we got to Bovey Tracey we found the recreation ground and sat on a picnic table in the sun enjoying our lunch and people watching. The ride itself isn't the longest, we rode for about 1hour 30mins but lots of that was slow riding exploring little turn offs on the trail, so if you were just cycling without looking around the ride would be over much quicker. The time and distance was perfect for our day though. The trail will certainly be one to return to in the future when we only have a couple of hours. The trail was clean and overall litter free too which is always nice.
