The 10 Best Outdoor Activities in Lake Havasu City, Arizona (AZ)

March 16, 2022 Kandra Bartel

Shimmering Lake Havasu, the centerpoint of Lake Havasu City, was formed in 1938 after the Parker Dam was built. It is perhaps most famous for the London Bridge that looms above it. Yes, the actual London Bridge, bought by the area's founding father, Robert McCullough, for $2,460,000, after the city of London put it up for auction in 1968. Today, Lake Havasu City is one of the most popular vacation destinations in Arizona and offers a range of recreational activities for families, couples and single travelers. Golf on championship courses, soak up the sun on the shores of Lake Havasu's beaches or explore nearby parks by foot and bicycle. Houseboats dot the lake and are available for rent along with paddle boats, kayaks, jet skis and other types of water sports equipment. Like most resort towns Lake Havasu is chock-full of hotels, restaurants, shops and non-stop action.

These guys are awesome! Very easy to deal with and they don't have the +++ like everyone else does (i.e. taxes, fees, gas, insurance, blah blah blah). It's, here's the price and see ya later. We did the 4 hour afternoon rental with the CanAm quad and it was AWESOME. The trails are 4 minutes from their office and they even give you a cooler with some water. We'll definitely be back to rent some more from them in the future.

Crack in the Mountain Trail

Reviewed By FlyStevenW - Seattle, United States

Really enjoyed this 5-mile out and back hike to Lake Havasu from Sara Park. Most of the trail follows a scenic dry riverbed but the highlight for me was the narrow “Crack In The Mountain” canyon. It was a bit challenging to climb through some of the most narrow sections, including a 7-foot drop that is like a smooth rock “slide”which was fun. There is a rope for climbing back up on the return. There are actually 3 different trails leading from Sara Park to the lake - red, blue, and yellow. The yellow trail goes through the canyon while the blue trail goes around and above the canyon for those who don’t want to navigate the canyon. Didn’t take the red trail so I can’t speak to that. We did the yellow trail in both directions. All of the trails lead to a beautiful cove on the lake with a “balancing rock” formation. Allow 2.5-3 hours for the entire hike. My only complaint is that the trail markers are a bit confusing and inconsistent.
