Southdown Gliding Club is located in a beautiful part of Sussex adjacent to the South Downs National Park and is principally a club for paid-up members who are experienced glider pilots or are training to get their glider pilots licence. The club also offers trial lessons and one-day courses to those thinking about gliding as a sport or leisure activity, or just as an experience to remember for the rest of their lives. It is a well-established club and was founded in the early days of aviation (1930).The club owns its own airfield and a fleet of 3 x 2-seater training gliders, plus 3 x single-seater gliders. We also have 3 x tug aircraft for towing gliders into the air. We also use a winch for a similar purposes. The club also has around 50 privately-owned gliders based at the airfield.
