If you like horseback riding in nature, and looking for an awesome riding experience near near Melides, this is the right place for you! The trail at the beach is about 1.5 hours long and you get to ride in woods, next to the lagoon and on the beach. If you feel comfortable, you are allowed to have a short trot/canter, all depends on your experience level. You can have a private session or ride as a group. Horses are well behaved and very calm, they are suitable for beginners as well. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Enjoy the ride !

I stayed 30 days with my wife at Amendoeira Golf Resort in Alcantarilha, Algarve. On our way back home from Lisbon we stayed one night in Aqualuz Troia Mar & Rio Suite Hotel and played two rounds at Troia Golf. You can find my review of the hotel elsewhere in TripAdvisor. The Troia Golf Course designed by the renowned course architect Robert Trent Jones Sr. has the 8th place in Golf World’s ranking list ’Top 100 Golf Courses in Continental Europe 2019’! This was the reason why we came to Troia. The course is built on sand dunes by respecting the nature and uniqueness of the peninsula. The course design provides a real golfing challenge due to small, elevated greens protected by large clusters of bunkers, narrow tree lined fairways and sand everywhere outside the fairways and roughs. Some players may not like the condition of the fairways as the grass is short and yellow/brown but I think they were exactly as they should be in winter on links courses built on sandy soil. The greens were in good condition and pretty fast. We had fantastic weather with almost no wind. Troia Golf is a wonderful golf course with magical and visually spectacular setting. Although it’s located off the beaten track it’s certainly worth a visit and the detour. If you are in the area, play it.

Spent the day at Comporta. We arrived around 11:30am and paid the €5 for shaded parking close to the board walk. There was plenty of space even on a Sunday. The beach is stunning and it’s worth walking perhaps 1km either right or left of the Cafe to get a secluded spot. As with all of this coast line the water is very cold but beautifully clear. Just be careful of the currents if not a good swimmer...
