The largest urban zoo in the U.S., with over 6,000 animals within its 265 acres of parks, woods and streams.
The Bronx Zoo is so much fun! We went on a simulated dinosaur safari; saw a Komodo dragon; visited sea lions and gorillas in the Congo; went on monorail ride through the jungles of Asia. This zoo is absolutely a must-visit. It's only a 3.5 hour drive from north of Boston!

Van Cortlandt Parkis the third largest New York City Park with 1,146 acres. Over half of the Park is forested and it has the largest freshwater lake in the borough. There is a lot of history in the Park: - It contains the Bronx's oldest building, the Van Cortlandt House built in 1748-49. The Park has the oldest municipal golf course in the United States, the Van Cortlandt Golf Course, founded in 1895. -It has a National Historic Landmark trail, the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail, which travels the route of the city's original water tunnel. Inside VCP is a cross-country running course with a national reputation. Every year, the rugged course hosts the national cross-country championships as well as the Manhattan College Invitational for high school students throughout the U.S.
Love the trails here for a run. The cross country course is challenging and beautiful. You will not be disappointed.

Played Saturday 11/2/19 with my son. Played for the first time 2 years ago and was returning after recovering from a serious illness. Checked in by a cheerful young lady who it turns out lives in our neighborhood. Her brother, who is my sons age, played on the schools basketball team that would always beat my sons team. Was worried because the temperature was cold but it stayed clear and the sun was strong throughout the round. It was very comfortable to play. Finished the round in 4 1/2 hours. Got delayed a little because it was cart path only. It is hard to judge where your ball lands when you travel along the cart path and are obscured by the beautiful scenery and mounds. Difficult to judge accurate distances without the carts gps since you could not leave the cart path so just took couple of clubs to the ball. Hey, I need the exercise! I didn’t want to bring my hand held scope because I knew I would leave it on the ground somewhere. Using the cart gps pointing to a landmark helped. I love that you can see your driving distance on the gps after you tee off. If I hit it 175 I am very happy! See my previous review of Trump ferry point. I kept hitting my head on either the gps screen or side basket on the passenger side. I told my son be careful, remember last time. Of course within 10 minutes I hit my head again but not very hard, I did what I did last time. I hung my hat on the cart to block it and never hit it again. My son said I am like a horse, I needed a blinder. I play city and state public courses only. I can not imagine any private golf courses in the country being in better shape than ferry point. The views, the fareways, fescue, practice area, the staff, the excellence never ends. Walking on the rough and fescue is so cushiony if you have bad feet it is a great therapy. At one point I had to lie on the fescue it was so comfortable. It felt like a bed of feathers. Of course my son thought I was crazy. Of course it is expensive but it is worth every penny. You will leave the course with a big smile on your face no matter what you score. We played the white tees to cut out most of the danger. My son hits it far but I am very straight and short so this is the best distance for me. Long par fours I want some chance of hitting the green with my third shot. Warning, you might have trouble sleeping the night you play because your mind will be reliving the tremendous experience you enjoyed. Thank you.

Climb, swing, and slide through obstacle courses in the trees. Push your boundaries, defy gravity, get close to nature, and know your visit helps WCS support wildlife around the world. It’s the best new experience in New York—a fresh park on the grounds of the Bronx Zoo.

This city park has a variety of habitats including forests, meadows, mixed scrub, salt marsh and a stretch of saltwater coastline, which makes this an excellent place for hiking, birdwatching and viewing wildlife.
I took the train here from Manhattan on a whim and very glad I did it. It took me less than an hour to get there and it was beautiful and peaceful. Nice park to walk around or go running or picnic in. Very easy to get to from the train.
