As you approach Externsteine you are immediately taken with the scale of the rocks, and then you are additionally blown away by the incredible history of the area. Rock carvings amongst the oldest in Germany, twisty steps up to impressive panoramic views over the forest and lake, and carved chapels and bridges complete the experience.
