Did the Yuka Family road on my own in July of 2015. I hired a bike for several days from the Kumamoto International Centre, I think it was 1000yen per day as long as you kept it (1 week max from memory). There are maps around the place but it can be a bit of challenge trying to find the start/end points. I got lost a few times but this was only part of the fun. Took about 8 hours over 2 days (4 each day stopping a lot on the way, having lunch/snack breaks etc. Would definitely recommend.
