Mandalpatti, crowned at a height of 1600m, is situated at around 18 km from Madikeri, Coorg. Gradually evolving as one of the best tourist spots in Coorg, this fascinating trail is located en route to Abbey Falls.
Visited Coorg for a day and decided to drive up to Mandalpatti! The roads going uphill are a bit rough so a small vehicle would be a little uncomfortable but a regular sedan or an SUV would be easy to drive up to the top. From the top, you can get a offroading SUV for about INR 750 per person which takes you to a point in Mandalpatti which has a splendid 360 degree view once you climb a small hilltop after the Offroading experience. The scenery is breathtaking especially in the evening when the fog starts covering the valleys! A must see location if you visit Coorg! One or two days are sufficient to see all of Coorg!

I used Charmady Ghat Road while traveling from Udupi to Bangalore on 16th Nov 2020... The route I took is Karkala to Moddabidri to Unite to Kottigehara to Mudigere to Belur to NH 75 junction in Hassan. The road condition is exceedingly wonderful. Have not seen such a beautiful road during the last 10 years.. except three places, it is pothole free and car driving is a pleasure... Driving time from Moodabidri to Kottigehara was under 2 hours in car (i20) morning 6.30 to 8.20 am Large vehicles are not allowed and hence roads were fairly empty in the Charmady Ghat Section.

In all the waterfalls in and around coorg, this is the least crowded, clean, scenic & one of the few fall's where we can take a dip in the water safely (no changing rooms though). Bit hard to reach by sedan, hatchback(manageable with suv or bike). Make sure to carry extra clothes if you are visiting this place (after seeing it, most probably you will take a plunge in the water ). Note: Don't enter into the water below the falls(don't know why, locals advise. ).
