Please choose the style of guestroom that you like from our western/ Japanese style rooms. From any of our rooms, on sunny days, you can enjoy the view of Mt. Fuji and lake Kawaguchiko. (Prices change depending on room)From the sky bar overlooking Lake Kawaguchiko , you can see the lights of the people who are climbing Mt. Fuji at night without clouds. “moon dance”is open for business in warm season.
My biggest regret was not booking more than 1 night. We was lucky enjough to arrive when the clouds were clearing and we ere treated to a 2 hour uninterrupted and sunny view of Mount Fuji. The view from our balcony was delightful and the onsen was quiet, clean and very relaxing. The food was superb throughout, the traditional Japanese dinner was one of the best meals we enjoyed and the westernised breakfast was delightful (and great for those that find some of the Japanese breakfast options a little challenging so early in the morning). We loved the lounge area, the fun and colourful object d'art, paintings and photographs displayed with the vast array of art and design books on offer along with the complimentary coffee. This place definately warrants a 2 night stay, not just for the hotel, but to sample the many things this area has available in general. Only complaint was the roof top bar service was a little on the cool (chilly) side, however the rest of the staff were warm and welcoming and professional. Would love to come back here! Don't hesitate booking....there are good reasons for the excellent reviews - this place is an absolute joy to stay in!

I stayed here with family specially with the intention of seeing mt. fuji- we drove by car from Tokyo to here and there’s a rather steep path up to the hotel... the check in experience was incredible, we had a host who sat with us and went through everything there was to offer at hotel including the incredible 5 course meal that was included in our stay, this menu differed slightly on each day of our trip so we didn’t get the same thing every night either - the restaurant is superb. The rooms are super clean, spacious and have the most incredible view!! (See the pictures) - our room included a tub with views out to Mount Fuji - I’ll be honest I got in there every morning because of the view. We had nothing but a positive experience at the hotel, the staff all spoke amazing English and could not have done more to help us! there’s a little shop where you can purchase souvenirs too. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a stay around this area, and if I come back I wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Thank you, you made my first visit to Mount Fuji unforgettable.

My family and I had two rooms booked for the first weekend of July 2022. I made the booking through another website, Agoda.com, so this review only reflects on them and the hotel. I made this reservation in February under the assumption travel to Japan would be allowed. I asked for a refund when it became clear it wouldn't be, and I also contacted the hotel as recommended by Agoda. The hotel was completely unwilling to listen to my concerns and told me they would only talk to the website. Agoda was unsuccessful in getting a refund after trying several times. If you want to encourage tourism, it's probably not a good idea to steal potential travelers' money. I even asked if I could postpone, put the rooms on consignment, try to resell them myself, etc, to no avail. Pretty heartless treatment given the circumstance. I can't imagine I would stay at a hotel that treats its customers this way now.

Clean and well maintained on the inside, the hotel itself is feeling dated. But how can you care about that when you have such how a magnificent view out the window. We threw open the curtains and just stayed warm in the winter, just staring at the view. The Onsen was also a lovely way to spend some time in winter.

We were looking for a reasonably priced hotel near Mt Fuji and this fit the bill quite nicely. The rooms were spacious, the food was really good (we did dinner and breakfast) and the location is perfect for viewing and touring all of the spots to see and photograph Mt Fuji.

Facing Mt. Fuji, this place of noble beauty remains still and serene. Repose in the forest of Kawaguchiko. Trees grown here have returned, their timber crafted for beauty and shelter. The lake laps at the shore, keeping time like a heartbeat. The forest breathes. Stars twinkle and the moon glows calmly. Leave scheduled time to regain nature’s time. Welcome to the forest of Kawaguchiko. All rooms are suites with a view of Mount Fuji and allow guests to admire the mountain scenery which transforms from one season to the next. Guest rooms feature open-air natural hot spring baths lined with volcanic stone from Mount Fuji and eco-friendly bioethanol fireplaces. Bask in the light of the dancing flames as the fragrance of the trees drifts in on the breeze at this forest getaway. We use local ingredients to prepare meals that vary from season to season. Please enjoy Japanese cuisine that can only be enjoyed here alongside Mt. Fuji’s volcanic stone and the aroma of the firewood.
For more general details about Fufu Kawaguchiko, please read my review from October 2020... We decided at the last minute to pay a visit to the Fuji Five Lakes area because the weather forecast called for a clear day (and hopefully a clear view of Mt. Fuji.) Thankfully, one room was available, and it was the exact same room as the one we stayed at the first time (Fufu Luxury Premium Suite, Room #408.) It's a top-floor corner suite with a separate bedroom/living room along with an expansive balcony and a free-flowing, open-air Onsen (natural hot springs) bath. As rooms go, it's pure bliss. Modern, tastefully furnished and decorated, bright and airy, and has all of the amenities and features one would expect when staying at a relatively new high-end property. We still feel that Fufu doesn't make the best use of its space - it's a bit busy, and consequently seems a bit less spacious than its specifications suggest (it's officially 136 square meters, although someone we can't help but feel that they're counting the balcony space as part of the overall room size.) It's really less of a ryokan and more of a hotel with ryokan-style elements. Shoes don't need to come off (although you're advised to do so in the guest rooms), they provide "Samue" (sort of spa pajama/style) outfits rather than the traditional (and albeit more pretty but less comfortable) Yukatas, but still retain some of the common ryokan charms (and a few drawbacks.) The staff are relatively young, hip and "pretty", and more casually friendly than the typical traditional ryokan, which is good or bad, depending on your perspective. We enjoyed the high-energy vibe of the place, although we also do enjoy the finesse and quaintness that top traditional ryokans exhibit as well (Asaba is a perfect example of this.) The clientele are also more youthful than most other properties that we've stayed at - this is where the young, wealthy and beautiful go to see and be seen, that's for sure. Again, not necessarily a bad thing, but just a FYI. Not much has changed from our last stay, although I will say that we enjoyed the food offering a bit more this time. We learned that they brought in a new head chef, and while it's not a night-and-day difference, we did notice a quality and creative improvement from last time. A few specialty dishes were once again served, including a unique cheese gratin with Natto (fermented soybeans that is slimy and has a pungent odor) for breakfast - we enjoyed the dish, but not sure how many Westerners can handle Natto, which is a very acquired taste. While we wish there was an option to have meals served in one's own room, we do think that Fufu needs to have more "koshitsu" private dining rooms in the restaurant. They only have a handful of them, and priority goes to large groups or families with small children. When we go to a high-end ryokan, we prefer not to dine in an open, restaurant-style environment. We requested a Koshitsu in advance, and were only told we would be dining in a Koshitsu moments before we were seated during our designated meal time. It kind of felt like being at an airport boarding gate, waiting to see whether the gate agent calls your name to announce that your upgrade cleared. I hope Fufu takes this feedback seriously. Service was slightly warmer and less formulaic than last time, in our opinion. Perhaps Fufu Kawaguchiko has had some time to provide a more refined service environment and iron out all of their kinks? The only thing preventing me from giving this a 5 rating has to do with its price: it's not a great value. In fact, it's considerably more expensive than most of the highest-end ryokans (at least the Fufu Luxury Premium Suite is priced that way), and is slightly outshone by the shinier and newer Fufu Nikko, which is slightly cheaper in price. If cost is not a consideration, then I'd give it 5 stars. If our experiences at Fufu Kawaguchiko and the spectacular Fufu Nikko are any indication, this new Japanese hospitality brand has a great thing going, and fills an underserved large niche - that of a ryokan/hotel hybrid that's relatively intimate and boutique compared to large chain luxury hotels, and arguably more comfortable than the typical luxury ryokan.

Tips for Fuji best view: check weather if it will be sunny and in my case the the Fuji was shown without any cloud at 6am when sunrise!! we booked japanese style room with breakfast and dinner. The checkin was easy and staffs were friendly. The room was very nice, spacious and amazing (it might be old for some, but not really for me and i like that feels to be able to experience normal japanese ryokan). They have private bathroom and toilet in the room. The public bathroom and onsen were nice! I book an 8am private onsen sadly the Fuji top were covered by cloud and sun a lil bit blinding. Breakfast and dinner were good! We have fun stayed there, gazing at the beautiful fuji and experience excellent stay. This hotel is for you if you want a relaxed vacation. The hotel can be reached by omni bus blue line but its very rare. In my experience touring aroung fuji using omni busses, they are not on time so sometimes you can wait 15min-1 hour for blue bus to pass depend on traffic, weather etc.

This was our best-ever ryokan experience, after 8 years in Japan! We stayed in the Shikibu Suite, the 2nd-largest of 11 rooms, for 2 nights. Our 200sqm suite had an enclosed garden, a private deck with onsen pool, and a separate bedroom, living, and dining/tatami room, all for our family of 4. Although the Presidential Suite looks wonderful in photos, I feel the Shikibu Suite was the more authentic Japanese experience--it had the Old World charm of a Japanese house, all in luxurious, hand-carved wood. The ryokan outdid itself with meals--Kaiseki for dinner, and a choice of West or Japanese breakfast. Kudos to the Chef and our hostess, Akiko san. The service was superb--Sato san met our car upon arrival in the rain, giving everyone an umbrella, even the kids. Our shoes and luggage wiped in the foyer, we entered our beautiful suite, followed closely behind by the lady Sato san, with out afternoon tea. Sato san deserves unreserved praise--he produced in only 2 hours, a beautiful cake at my wife's secret request for our anniversary dinner, plus an unexpected flower bouquet, which was a real surprise for her. Thank you to all the staff at Osenji Yumedono Ryokan--we would love to come back again someday.
