New York State has it all – booming metropolises, majestic waterfalls, mountains, wine country, chicken wings. Yes, NYC is a magnet for tourists, but an exploration of the rest of the state can be equally thrilling. The Finger Lakes Wine Region is a vision of serene waters, quaint B&Bs, and pretty vineyards. Movie buffs will love Rochester, home of the George Eastman House and one of the world’s most comprehensive film archives. On your way to Niagara Falls, stop in Buffalo to fuel up on spicy wings.

Roberson Museum and Science Center is Binghamton's center for exploration in art, history, and science. Take a walk back into the Gilded Age by touring the Roberson family mansion, or go into space during a show in the Digital Planetarium. Take a walk through several different habitats in the NatureTrek exhibition and tour through one of the rotating art installations. Come and let your mind wonder!
My friend and I visited Roberson in December. We saw Christmas trees decorated by many numerous sponsors. It was amazing. We also saw examples of how Christmas is celebrated around the world as well as a Hanukkah example. There was a one hour concert of high school students playing Christmas songs on strings which was wonderful. We toured the historical home decorated for Christmas. The museum and science center (planetarium) change exhibits which are interesting and informative.

The Adirondack night sky, the wilderness above, is simply spectacular! It is here that something unique is being created: the Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory. Formerly the Adirondack Public Observatory, the Sky Center has evolved into a regionally recognized center for the observation of the cosmos, and has been providing quality experiences for people of all ages through astronomy. The Board is running a fundraising campaign to allow us to establish a three-building permanent facility. In 2013, we completed the first step: the Roll-off Roof Observatory, at 178 Big Wolf Road, open as weather and staffing permit for stargazing. We also currently have an office, Gift Shop, and Classroom open daily from 10-5 at 36 High Street. Today, that journey continues. Construction has begun on a $15 million, 17,000 square foot AstroScience Center, estimated to take five years from ground clearing to completion. Please join us!
