As most of the real ale is straight out of the keg, it is the best it can be no of this sparkler thing. Luckly I can get to it quite easily, and I do quite often.

Yaxley Cherry Tree

My friend and I visited for the 1st time for lunch today. Neither of us knew anyone who had previously eaten here, so not sure what to expect. We were a little unsure as we walked in, as the bar area felt to us like walking into an old fashioned city centre pub. We were greeted warmly by the lady behind the bar. We explained we had booked for lunch, and were then greeted by a lady who appeared from the dining area. As it was a Wednesday, we were offered the “Seniors Special” menu, but were assured we could look at the general menu too. I chose whitebait for my starter, expecting a small plate of 10 or so, but the quantity was over 30. My friend had prawns in garlic butter on toast. Both were delicious. I then had a beef suet pudding with perfectly cooked and seasoned veg, and my friend had oven baked cod with spinach, which she proclaimed as excellent. Full to the brim, we couldn’t manage one of the set puddings, but we were offered ice cream, which we duly tucked into. The waitress was just as you would wish, helpful, and personable. We were the only ones dining. This amazed us, as clearly folks don’t yet realise what an effort is being made here. The seniors menu is £10 for two courses, £12.50 for three - in our opinion an absolute steal.

Didn't realise they did delivery food so thought we would give it a go. prices are great. we ordered three pizzas and six beers. I mentioned to the person on the phone that it was my mums birthday and they even put a lovely note on the box! We paid over the phone, the person was very informative and it was all quick and easy. Pizza arrived on time, piping hot and was delicious. You could tell it was all homemade. Beers were also cold which was a nice touch! The delivery man was very professional and followed social distancing when delivering pizzas. All round a lovely experience. Will definitely be ordering again!

My favourite pub in Clare! The atmosphere was lovely and the landlord and his wife are so welcoming, remembering our names after spending a few hours in there each night. Really looking forward to going back! A special mention to Neslon the dog!

Our first pub visit since they re-opened post lockdown and was worth the wait! Lovely garden with a big canopy set up. Tables nicely spaced out. Really friendly staff/owners, and food was delicious. Great selection of drinks too. Will definitely come again if we’re ever passing through the area.

Limited selection of beers in what is possibly the smallest pub in Britain, so it’s perfectly understandable. Quirky decor a must for everyone visiting Bury St Edmunds.
