Surrounded by one of Germany's largest wine-growing regions, Stuttgart beckons cultural junkies with its acclaimed ballet, opera and philharmonic, while auto fans get revved up over the Mercedes Benz Museum. There's more green space than urban sprawl in the festival-friendly city, home to Europe's largest zoo and botanic garden combo, the Wilhelma. The WÂrttembergisches Landesmuseum, in one of the city's oldest structures, traces area history from the Stone Age. Buses or subway provide handy transport.

This is my favourite bar in the world ever - the only close second was salvo bivatori in Venice . I was a bit apprehensive at first, walking down stairs to go under ground but so glad I did. Leather arm chairs, subdued lighting and a variety of music from jazz, blues, reggae and lots more. If you’re a real ale connoisseur then lots of Belgian bottled ales to choose from, and whiskey and gin abound - they let you sniff the bottle to make your choice !! Just choose your bottle and take it to the bar. This is a drinking experience and not just a pub - but you do pay for that experience, gin at 13E and 330ml bottles of beer at 7E - but a superb place to spend the evening with friends.
