The 10 Best Nightlife in North City Centre, Province of Leinster

August 8, 2021 Jeremy Dunfee

You've probably heard that Guinness tastes better in Dublin (fresh from the factory), but what you may not know is that Dublin is a perfect destination for the whole family. No, we're not suggesting you let the kiddies drink a pint. Instead, take them to the Dublin Zoo, to feed the ducks in Stephen's Green or on a picnic in Phoenix Park. Scholars enjoy walking in the literary footsteps of such writers as Yeats and Joyce, while discerning shoppers have their pick of designer boutiques.

The Sackville Lounge

One of Dublins most beloved pubs, The Sackville Lounge at 16 Sackville Place Dublin 1 is a traditional Irish Pub set only a stones through from Irelands O'Connell Street. Its a hidden gem filled with a rich history and the location of the oldest "Ghost Signs" in Dublin. We offer a warm and cosy atmosphere, live sports and a great pint!

Just the place for a lovely toastie served with Colman's mustard. Nice welcoming atmosphere in the Sackville. Good sounds too. They have a good selection of draught and bottled beers and some well priced Irish whiskies. A sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of O'Connell Street.

Slattery's Bar

Stopped in here late one evening for dinner in early March, just when the virus was starting so things were quiet. What a neat place! We had a great dinner with the lamb stew & dark bread (soda?) which was the best I've ever had. Wish we could have come back for breakfast or to experience the place as a pub. Seemed to be a good mix of locals & others. Interesting decor & good service, too. A place I would visit again!

The Academy Dublin

Since The Academy opens its doors in late 2007, we’ve welcomed a large number of talented acts, and have a million great memories... From The Killers to Lilly Allen, Chuck Berry to Calvin Harris, Biffy Clyro to Michael McIntyre, we’re proud to be at the forefront of the live music scene in Dublin.Featuring 3 different venues within one building, The Academy gives punters a big choice of acts, clubs & events to consider when on a night out in the city. The Main Room has a capacity of 850 including the mezzanine balcony. With a prominent stage that is viewable from every corner of the room, and raised seating areas situated either side of the stage, it means that every punter gets to experience the show close up. This is where the biggest acts play, and where our late clubs take place.Academy 2 in the basement is our baby venue, with a capacity of 230. Here you will find new up & coming acts, both local and international. Countless bands have cut their teeth in Academy 2, only to announce soonafter that their next gig will be headlining the Main Room! The Greenroom is our ground floor venue which was given a complete overhaul in the summer of 2011. With a capacity of 450 and a new stage installed, its the perfect location for club nights, DJ’s, private parties & special events.
