An interesting selection of wines which you don’t often see elsewhere. Prices are always reasonable with some very good offers. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. When I am in the area, a few times a year, I always go there to buy a case.

Took the bus from Totnes and really the Valiant Soldier is the place to visit there. The pub is like going back in time - and wonderful to read the posters, booklets ( Advice for how American GI's can get on with local Tommy's) Well worth the visit and would recommend to anyone - then finish off the trip by catching the steam train back to Totnes. Perfect!

This is a very friendly pub in a good location. We were camped at Dartmoor Shepherd's Huts campsite and it was within walking distance for us. The staff were extremely helpful and did everything in their power to ensure that they were Covid secure. We will definitely be returning when we are back in the area.

Great beer garden. The food at dinner was amazing, beautifully cooked cod and smooth delicious pate. Finished off with local cheeseboard with quince and prunes. Stopped in by chance and so glad we did. Back again today for another treat.

Just enjoyed a very pleasant meal at the Crossways Inn. The landlady greeted us with a warm and friendly welcome, nice choice of good traditional meals on the menu. Food arrived very promptly, nicely cooked and generous portions, desserts just as good, and compared to many local pubs and restaurants very good value. Well done and thank you Crossways, hope to be back soon!

Lovely place to sit out,as we have too for now, and enjoy the very good food, friendly service and the countryside. Fantastic beer battered fish, perfect scallops too when we went this week. Did I mention how good the beer is too. Very reasonable prices.

The Royal Oak Inn is a free house owned by Burrator Parish Council. It is situated within the Dartmoor National Park, in an idyllic location next to the village green in Meavy. The pub is a former 15th-century church house inn. It takes its name from the oak tree on the village green which is reputedly some 800 years old. This is one of the few remaining traditional pubs, with a flagstone floor, old beams and a large open fireplace. Some of the seats are pews from the adjacent church. And the wood fire provides a warm welcome on those cold winter evenings. If character is what you want from your visit then you could find no better place!
Because this was a sunny day the food service was a bit slow but well worth the wait. We booked a table. The staff were very friendly and are drinks arrived promptly. Portions were very generous and good quality.

Traditional family run pub. Bar, lounge, restaurant and large beer garden. A stop off for walkers and cyclists we are on the edge of beautiful Dartmoor! Bar snacks, restaurant menu, Sunday roast and specials all available as well as a seperate Childs menu. We are CAMRA approved and hold 2 beer festivals every year, May and October. We show Sky T.V. And B.T. sport in both rooms, dartboard in bar. The beer garden is secluded and is a sun trap in the summer, although umbrella's are there for anyone needing a bit of shade. We welcome dogs with well behaved owners in the bar and garden. We are known as 'The Country Pub in Town'
