My 15 year old son and I visited today for a fascinating talk on hawks and owls of different types and natures from Sally whose passion and knowledge was superb. We saw the birds initially, interacted and then went to a nearby field for some flying to and from the glove. A lovely couple of hours and the tea and cake to start proceedings were lovely. Definitely recommended and something different for a morning or afternoon out.

Private bespoke Bird of Prey experiences in and around Arundel and West Sussex Not open to the public and bookings in advance are recommended on our stunning sites in beautiful Sussex countryside
Just had the most amazing experience doing the hawk walk with my mum for Mother’s Day! Mum said it was the most breath taking experience she’s ever had! Being up close and personal with the birds is incredible! Would highly recommend to anyone who’s looking for a gift that’s out of the box! Looking forward to the next one! ????

I regularly cycle along various parts of this fantastic old railway line and yesterday I travelled the entire length which was amazing. Mostly flat with a steep and confusing stretch between Rudgwick and Cranleigh and from this point forth going North it became apparent that the signage, which had been excellent throughout the Sussex stretch, was now very poor and where existent was largely unmaintained. This made it a little more difficult to ensure I was on the right track and the directions around Cranleigh were almost non existent. This aside the route takes one through some amazing English countryside on what is an easy and pleasant bridle-path. Normally there's loads of places to stop for snacks etc but due to lock-down these were largely all closed down. Only exception is the Old Railway pub (formerly the Cat & Canary) in Henfield that has set up an outdoor takeaway facility in their large beer garden which is open 7 days a week. Excellent service in a lovely spot.

Set in the splendor of the South Downs; adjacent to the River Arun; overlooked by the historic Arundel Castle skyline this gorgeous wetland reserve is a great place for a great day out in West Sussex for the whole family. Arundel Wetland Centre is home to a collection of over 50 species of wildfowl from around the world in natural settings, on display 364 days a year so there is always something to see. This gorgeous nature reserve has boat rides and an amazing reedbed boardwalk. The 8 wildlife hides bring you close to Sussex wildlife plus there is a family oriented Discovery Hide which hosts events in wet weather. Added to this are two adventure playgrounds, the Water’s Edge Cafe serving takeaway drinks, snack & ice creams and a gift shop with unique take-home treats. Arundel Wetland Centre is fully accessible with buggy and wheelchair friendly pathways, comfortable hides and disabled and parent & baby facilities.
Revisit again and again with the array of beautiful wild bird life from around the world, play areas and educational retreat spaces for the Hardy enthusiastic watchers. Warm welcomings feeding areas, lovely little gift shop and boat tours it has everything for a family to enjoy including the admission. We will continue to come back.

A really good hike along the nature trail, passing centuries old trees and a really steep incline which is well worth the effort for the views! We visited during gale force winds and not the best weather but the views were still fantastic and we could see all the way to the Solent.

Worth going to several times in one year, different species and different weather makes visits varied and interesting. Good for all ages although there is a little bit of walking. Take time to have a trip on the little boat which is included in the price. Take a picnic as the cafe is rather over priced - the only negative point that I can think of.

A mixture of wetland and woodland habitats. Headquarters of the Sussex Wildlife Trust. Sorry no dogs, except guide dogs, as this nature reserve is a centre for environmental education.
This is a good place from which to start a walk, as the main path from the car park leads out to a public footpath through the neighbouring fields and - eventually, after crossing a road - up onto the South Downs. Some nice shady picnic tables as well. Unfortunately the cafe (in a horse box trailer!) was not open on the day we visited. That would have been the icing on the cake (and the cake as well). Extremely clean loos and plenty of Covid-19 precautions.
