Absolutely wonderful to just wander through and soak up the weather and gardens. Could quite easily spend over an hour here. Great for gardening ideas. Beautifully manicured and cared for with focal areas, in the back drop of the Palace. Really effective planting of Box (Buxus) and Yew. The worlds largest, and second oldest vine pretty spectacular, grapes hanging should be coming up to black soon I should imagine!!

Update from the National Trust on the animal houses at Ridland’s Grove, Limpsfield Common: Due to Covid-19 safety restrictions and recent issues of vandalism, we are taking the difficult decision to temporarily close some of the animal houses at Ridlands Grove from Thursday 24 September 2020. These include the Badger’s Barracks, Hedgehog Hall and Post Office. They will each be protected with fencing until repairs can be made, Covid restrictions are lifted and we are confident that the recent issues have been overcome. In the meantime, we will continue to work with our local committee on gathering views on the future of the animal houses. We’re very sorry for any disappointment that this causes. We understand how deeply people feel about the animal houses and value everyone’s views. For further information please visit: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/limpsfield-common

Our location in a secluded yet accessible part of the countryside of the Surrey Hills is the perfect place to get up close and personal with our select team of birds of prey.
We had a brilliant time today learning so much about the beautiful birds, would highly recommend the family experience great value for money.

Walked from Esher Common to Prince's Coverts, I've always known it as Oxshott woods, so it was quite a surprise to find out it had a name. There's so much to explore here from the woodland to the more open sandy paths. Great for a walk on your own or with others. Great place to walk a dog or spend time with the family. I walked here during in lockdown on my daily exercise, there is plenty of space to step to one side so you can adhere to social distancing. Well worth a visit.

It is strange to look at a map of Epsom Common and see that there is a circular area of housing in the centre. The history is that, from around 1700, this was one of England's earliest spas, focused on the well which still exists in this unlikely location. The origins of the spa at Epsom, and of Epsom Salts go back to 1618 when a farmer called Henry Wicker discovered the water source, which his cattle would not drink from, and the water became famous for its therapeutic properties. Further wells followed, plus other new buildings such as the Assembly Rooms, which still exists as a pub in Epsom itself. From the late 1600's, Epsom Salts were readily available in chemists and other shops and gradually the spa declined, with the well here to remind us of this piece of history. Epsom Common itself it a natural wildlife habitat focused on a number of ponds and goes back many centuries as common land. On the edge of the Common is Christ Church designed by the architect Arthur Blomfield and consecrated on Wednesday 18 October 1876 by the Bishop of Winchester.

I visit Priory Farm quite regularly with my 7 and 2 year old, and it’s always enjoyable and just seems to get better every year as new additions and obstacles are added to the walk. You can use the pirate ship play and picnic area for free and there is also a small playground attached to the nursery, entry to the walk is £3 each which I think is reasonable. There is usually a trail and there are several obstacles or activities for the children around the walk (monkey bars, sunflower maze, tunnels, tug of war, balance beams etc), also fishing lakes with lots of fish that you can feed. There is a kiosk by the play area that sells coffee and other treats. Plentiful parking and also clean toilets. Over the road is a lovely farm shop that is worth a visit. Overall a fantastic and affordable day out.
