For the past 30 years, we have spent a week in the Methow Valley in the summer camping, hiking, biking and kayaking on the Methow River. Many visitors float the river on whatever floaty thing they can find. We always take our inflatable kayaks and float from Winthrop to Twisp. It's a blast! Takes about 3-5 hours depending on the amount of flowing water for a particular year. Bring your favorite beverages and sunscreen.

This park is well-known for its beautiful scenery and recreational activities.
Its a beautiful park and lake to swim in, wish I could have spent more time there. I saw deer and other wildlife roaming around the area. It is a photographer's dream!

To find this hike, program Falls Creek Campground into your map app. The road in is in good shape other than a few pothole sections. Easily driven in a passenger car. The trailhead is just before the campground, on the opposite side of the street. Obvious once you see it but surprisingly easy to miss. You get to a beautiful view of the falls right at the start, from a short easy trail. The trail climbs steadily from there and affords numerous views of the various ramparts of the falls as you go. I'm not in the best of health, so we only made it about a mile in but it's beautiful the whole way and you can quit at any time depending on your fitness level. I'd recommend hiking poles because some sections are pretty steep, though the footing is good. We went in September and were surprised at the water volume for this time of year. Very pretty.

We saw the sign for the fish hatchery and decided to check it out. So glad we did - fun and educational for all ages. The volunteer host gave us a great tour of the facility and explained the life cycle of salmon and why we have fish hatcheries. We saw the small fry tanks and huge salmon that had just returned from the ocean in another tank. Best of all we got to feed the trout and created a feeding frenzy - they were HUNGRY! Amazing facility.

Years after emerging from its cobbled nest, a salmon returns to that same spot. Hundreds of river miles, thousands in the ocean, 9 dams, out and back, and all the perils in between. Paired now with another, preparing their own nest, a redd, to spawn the next generation. Back, in their home stream. Homestream Park is dedicated to the rivers and fish of the Methow Valley, and to the native people,
