Portimao is a sailor’s delight, thanks to its calm waters and beautiful conditions. Plenty of elite international competitions happen here, but you don’t have to be a professional to set sail. Cruising the coast on the double-masted Santa Bernarda pirate ship is a family favorite. On dry land, you can wander the lovely Alvor boardwalk, enjoy a succulent seafood meal or zip around the go-kart track at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.

We had a great morning with Marco who gave us an excellent tour of the local area by bike - lovely places we'd never have been to had he not been with us. A great ride around the beautiful countryside and we were even lucky enough to sample his home-grown oranges and freshly caught sardines along with his family. Highly recommended!

First time here and we were pleasantly surprised by everything, the beach which is huge and clean, the atmosphere which is relaxed, and we enjoyed our 4 days there, the only point would be the climb, 96 steps, up to the road level, Albufeira have sorted it out with an escalator why not here ? apart from that the top level goes from quiet to busy areas there is plenty to see and do for most tastes, the beach level boardwalk is a must as are is the cliff views, we stayed at the Marina and again what a lovely place scenic and always something happening, so we would return without a doubt and there are plenty of end of season deals with accommodation.

We viewed the beach from a lookout above the beach that went along the cliffs above the beach. The views were absolutely incredible. Later we walked the beach and explored but the views are better from above

The views of this beach from the cliffs above are absolutely fantastic. It’s obviously a beautiful beach and worth checking out but the views above is the money shot
